Hi Rodney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m an orthodontist and owner of Torres Orthodontics in Tampa. My journey started with a desire to combine art, science, and service — and orthodontics turned out to be the perfect fit.
After completing dental school and my orthodontic residency, I worked in several practices, learning what to do — and what not to do — when it came to running a patient-centered, high-quality office. Eventually, I took the leap and acquired my first practice. From there, I rebranded under my own name and began building a team and culture that reflect my values: personalized care, transparency, and a warm, bilingual family environment.
Today, I’m focused on growing our footprint while staying rooted in the kind of service that earns trust and creates smiles we can all be proud of.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but the challenges are what make the story worth telling. When I acquired the practice, it came with its share of struggles: outdated systems, low team morale, and a lack of clear identity. I had to rebuild from the ground up — refining protocols, reshaping the culture, and reintroducing the practice to the community under a new name: Torres Orthodontics.
There were long days, tough calls, and a lot of learning on the fly. Balancing patient care, team leadership, and the business side — all while raising a young family — wasn’t easy. But those early struggles helped me create a practice that feels genuine, patient-focused, and rooted in values that matter: trust, transparency, and top-tier care.
Now, seeing our offices grow and our patients refer their friends and families — that’s the most rewarding part.
