Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Will.
Hi Nicole , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
If you were to ask my family and friends whether they ever imagined me running my own business in the beauty world, they’d confidently say, “Never!” Yet here I am.
Growing up, I was never someone who cared much about appearances or fashion as my heart had led me more to the counseling world. After earning my degree in Psychology and then my Master’s in School Counseling, I still wouldn’t have guessed that this is where life would lead me.
When I had to resign from my career as a school counselor after the birth of my third child, I found myself wanting to do something just for me. The idea didn’t come right away, it wasn’t until after my fourth child was born that inspiration struck. At the time, I was a stay at home mom with two kids in school and two at home. Three months postpartum, I was feeling discouraged about how I looked. I felt older than my age and constantly tired.
Everyone blamed it on motherhood, but deep down I knew it was something different. I was sleeping fairly well, my kids were wonderful, and yet I didn’t feel or look like myself. To make things trickier, I’m allergic to many makeup brands, so wearing makeup wasn’t an option. I wanted to find a natural, holistic way to look brighter and more awake.
That’s when I discovered color analysis. I started reading about the science behind it, and it’s simplicity made a lot of sense. When I had my own colors done, I could see the difference instantly, some shades made me look washed out and tired, while others made my features glow.
At that time, there weren’t any color analysts in the Sarasota/Bradenton area, and I thought, “Why not bring this beautiful, simple approach to others?” So I trained in the 16-season color analysis system and launched my own business.
Now, more than three years later, I can honestly say it’s been such a blessing. My business has grown beyond what I ever imagined, being invited to a local news station, working with corporations, etc. and the best part is helping others see their natural beauty shine through. I still get to stay in the world of helping others, it just looks a little different.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say I faced many of the typical struggles that come with starting your first business. I was completely naïve to just how much goes into running a small business, and now that I know, I have the utmost respect for every small business owner out there.
It’s not easy to take the leap and open a business while living on one income and raising four children. I had no idea how many hidden expenses would come up, so many little things that quickly add up. On top of that, I’m still a mom first, with a little one at home, so scheduling appointments often means coordinating childcare and balancing family life.
Despite the challenges, I truly can’t complain. Every struggle has taught me something valuable and brought me to where I am today. I’m incredibly grateful for how far I’ve come, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is called Color Your Couture, and I’m a certified color analyst trained in the 16-season color analysis system. I help my clients discover the colors that make them shine and feel their absolute best.
What makes my business unique is that I built it entirely on my own. While many color analysis companies are part of franchises, I wanted the freedom to make my own decisions and create something that truly reflects me.
The main thing that sets me apart from others, is as much as I would love to bring in more money financially to my family I want color analysis to be available to as many people as I can. This means although many people around me have told me to raise my prices, I cannot seem to make the change. If it means I may work out of my home office and continue to travel to my clients instead of having a studio space I will do it. I am very passionate about making it as accessible as possible.
I love how flexible my work allows me to be. I bring color analysis to all kinds of settings, including corporate events, individual appointments, family gatherings, and boutique sessions. Every service I offer is centered around helping clients understand which colors enhance their natural features and which ones might wash them out.
At the heart of it all, my goal is to help people feel more confident, radiant, and authentically themselves.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I’m definitely not your typical business owner because I don’t have a 5–10-year goal plan. I truly believe that we can plan as much as we want, but sometimes life just has its own way of working things out. Would I love to expand my business, have my own studio space, and travel to bigger company events? Absolutely!
I also believe with all my heart that God is in control. He’s been such a big part of my business’s growth and success. I’m just so thankful to be doing something that makes me and the people around me, happy. So if it is in his plan for my dreams to come to fruition then I will be incredibly joyfilled.
My dream, it would be to do this full-time, have my own studio, and travel all over sharing color analysis with anyone who’s interested. I’m most fulfilled when I’m happy, and my success is really measured by that, doing what I love, being happy, and knowing it helps others. As long as I can keep doing that, I feel like I’ve made it.
