Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Jewsbury.
Hi Michelle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a survivor of domestic violence who decided to transform my personal story into purpose, becoming an international advocate, author, coach and speaker. My journey began with overcoming years of abuse, which I later turned into advocacy through my one-woman play and memoir, “But I Love Him.” By sharing my story on stage and in print, I have aimed to inspire other survivors to reclaim their voices and realize they’re not alone.
Driven by my experiences and passion for service, I founded Unsilenced Voices in 2017—a nonprofit dedicated to empowering survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Our organization operates primarily in Sierra Leone, offering vocational training, sensitization programs and medical assistance, along with direct financial support to survivors. We’ve also pioneered innovative solutions by integrating technology, such as NFT campaigns, to provide new income opportunities and amplify our reach.
In addition to leading Unsilenced Voices, I coach individuals on how to share their stories, launch nonprofits, and create meaningful businesses. I continue to curate collaborative books, including “Breaking the Silence: Voices of Survivors,” and speak on stages worldwide. Through all my work, my mission remains clear: to help others turn their adversity into action and inspire sustainable, positive change around the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No,
In the beginning I had major imposture syndrome. I did not think I was equipped to run a nonprofit or start my own business, however God had a different path. There have been challenges in funding and exposure, but staying the process has gotten me to where I am today and I am extremely grateful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Michelle Jewsbury Speaks?
I help people share their stories through one-on-one coaching, Legacy Camp, and the Breaking the Silence book collaboration project. My one-on-one coaching is designed to empower individuals to transform their life experiences—whether of adversity or triumph—into powerful narratives that can heal, inspire, and create impact for themselves and their communities. This process also includes resources like marketing, best seller campaigns, and massive exposure, allowing my clients to find their voice and develop their stories for books, speeches, and course creation.
Through Legacy Camp (legacycamp360.com), I offer an immersive program that guides participants step-by-step in building their own platforms. We focus on teaching how to create and launch signature courses, publish books, and speak on influential stages. Legacy Camp provides not just actionable strategy, but the community, mentorship, and industry insights necessary for meaningful progress. My clients benefit from a high level of support and practical guidance from someone with real-world experience in both nonprofit and for-profit impact.
My collaborative book project, “Breaking the Silence: Voices of Survivors” (breakingthesilence.us), invites survivors of trauma to join a select group of authors in co-creating a published work. For a set fee, up to 20 participants are chosen to contribute their stories, receive visibility, and connect with like-minded peers in a supportive, professional publishing process. This project creates a lasting platform for each author, while inspiring change and breaking the cycle of silence on a global scale. The next volume is slated for publication on Sept. 25, 2025 and we are currently searching for Vol. 4 authors– which will publish in Spring 2026.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
There is a proverb that says, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” I have had many mentors in my life and continue to invest in education, support services, marketing teams, editors, and coaches. Some include Bill Walsh, Jeff Hoffman, Mark Katz, Paul Finck, George Chanos, Lina Sosa, Angel Tuccy, Jim Martyka, Lead Odyssey, GoTaskFree, Powerteam International. Also, my friends and family have been a huge support in cheering me on, despite challenges.
