Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlon “Phill” Phillips.
Hi Marlon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Kingston Jamaica and moved here in 1999 to pursue the American Dream. I am Married to (wife) Deanna and have a daughter her name is Gianna. It was then that I realized that we all deserve a place to feel at home.
So, after over 20 years of being a Carpenter and working in the construction industry, we have decided to continue the tradition of the building industry and start Phill’s Home Construction LLC. At Phill’s Home Construction, we understand the importance of having a home that works for you. We have over 20+ years of experience in the construction industry- The Elders of the Phillips family still supply building materials throughout Jamaica.
To help carry the family legacy in Florida, many of the Phillips’ have perfected their craft as construction tradesmen. I am no exception to the family legacy of Home Builders. The team and family here at Phill’s Home Construction are proud to offer remodeling, home additions, and new home construction in Florida.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No! lots of work. I would say the hardest struggle is to get the right team with integrity that you can trust. Getting everything out of my head and on paper so the Mission and vision can be followed. The transition from working in the business to working on the business. Just to name a few!

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes, I am constantly learning new ways to be efficient and educating myself. A most important lesson we learned during Covid-19 was to order the long lead item as soon as possible and add an escalating clause to materials.
