Hidden Gems: Meet Erin Wadelin of Nurture Chiropractic and Family Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Wadelin

Hi Erin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my chiropractic journey as a fly on the wall at my older brother’s chiropractic practice in our rural Ohio town. At the time, I was in high school and worked part-time as their front desk receptionist after school and on Saturday mornings. I quickly saw how great of an impact he and his wife were making on our community, and I learned about the importance of conservative health care as an option for many common conditions and symptoms. Fast forward to my undergraduate studies at Ohio State, I knew I wanted to pursue a health career but didn’t find myself fitting in with the hustle and bustle of the pre-med crowd. I pursued my Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL, where I then stayed and practiced for two years after graduation.

During that chapter of my life, I met my husband, Chris, and we eventually decided to move back to Canton, Ohio, where I could work for my family’s practice in our small town. We lived there for three years, where I grew tremendously in my skill sets of functional medicine and nutrition therapy, and we had our daughter Ensley during those years living close to family. Thanks to the changing landscape of the financial industry during the pandemic, Chris and I found ourselves searching for new career opportunities this year. We agreed that the Tampa Bay market was a strong move for both of our professions. We relocated to Florida in August of this year, and I opened my doors to Nurture Chiropractic and Family Wellness in late September near downtown Dunedin.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Hah! Is the road to success ever smooth?! 🙂 Combining the stress of a cross-country move with a toddler with the financial uncertainty of one household income and opening a small business, it’s safe to say there have been many struggles on this journey. My husband and I left both of our families in the Midwest, so we agreed we would have to start over not only professionally but personally as well. I have had to balance the demands of parenting and business ownership, but also just trying to do them both well. It’s easy to slack off as a mom when my business needs me, and it’s hard to ignore the emails/calls/inquires about my office when I’m at home with my daughter. I’m still trying to find that work-life balance, and it’s more important now than ever before.

We’ve been impressed with Nurture Chiropractic and Family Wellness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nurture Chiropractic and Family Wellness was opened with a vision of being an all-inclusive, holistic space for women, infants, children, and families. My training as a chiropractor, acupuncturist, and functional medicine practitioner allows me to care for a wide variety of conditions, including digestive complaints, autoimmune diseases, hormonal imbalances, cardio-metabolic conditions, mood disorders, and acute and chronic pain. My passion is working with women from preconception through postpartum stages, and I am the Webster Technique certified for pregnancy and perinatal care. I am currently pursuing training for my pediatric chiropractic care certification, and supporting children to grow and develop optimally is my life’s mission. I love helping my patients work toward optimal health with natural medicine, and I believe that a balanced diet and lifestyle is the foundation for health.

What matters most to you? Why?
Making sure my patients are heard and understood is the most important part of the care I offer. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had someone look at me and say, “well, my doctor told me my labs are fine” or “I feel like my doctor doesn’t listen.” I pride myself on being someone who finally does listen.

I look forward to educating and supporting my patients in new ways and offering them natural, holistic, and alternative options for their health choices. If a patient doesn’t know all of their choices, they have no informed choice. It matters to me to give those women, children, and families a choice.
