Today we’d like to introduce you to Deborah Beagle.
Hi Deborah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my career in interior design in the 1990s. I was working in the fashion industry, traveling back and forth between New York and Detroit, Michigan. It was then that my husband and I purchased our first home. The starter home needed so much work. My passion for fashion changed into a desire to renovate houses and spaces not only for myself but also for clients. In 1997, my business started as Distinquished Interiors. Over the course of almost 3o years now, I have seen a lot of design trends come and go. My business served the greater southwestern Michigan area until we relocated to sunny, warmer weather here in southwest Florida in 2021. I still maintain a lakehouse (a huge 10-year renovation) in Northern Michigan and still serve clients in both Northern Michigan in the summers and southwestern Florida in the winter months. My new company, Dkspaces LLC, established in 2015, has evolved into more services. My services include: Interior Design, Color Consultation, Staging for Real Estate, Downsizing Consultation, Remodeling 3D renderings, and Home Organization. I personally believe that beautiful spaces that reflect a person and their passions are all that matter. I believe that interior design services should be available to everyone no matter what their budget is.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In the 1990s, my design work also included faux painting, which was a huge trend in the 1990s. I learned all the techniques and added them to my initial client services. Many of these techniques were labor-intensive, but this service was highly desired, and it helped me grow my other services. Home staging and interior design in the 2000s were challenging after the housing market crash. Not many clients needed staging, and many people were just not remodeling their spaces.

Design services with over 25 years of experience. I specialize in transforming interior spaces. I believe that good design can maximize a home’s space and improve the occupants’ quality of life. I am most proud of the fact that I can transform any space on any budget. You do not need a lot of money to make your home beautiful and comfortable.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I loved LEGOs growing up because they could become anything you wanted them to be.
I played sports in high school, tennis and softball, and loved music. I was both in the marching band and in the high school musicals. I remember adding wallpaper border ( big in the 1980s) to my parents’ hall and bathroom when I was still in high school, probably 17 years old. I loved interiors even then. My passion was the world of fashion, though. After high school, I went to Ohio State and graduated with a degree in Marketing, with my only goal to work in fashion. After working in that world for about 4 years, my passion changed. I would grab the latest interior design magazine and bypass the fashion ones. A fellow co-worker at the time moved to New York, and I helped rearrange his interior . I knew then that this was the next step.
