Cynthia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started when I was little. My Aunt Diann had a house with poltergeist activity back in Northlake, Illinois, and my Great Aunt Norma used to talk to a ghost at the end of her bed every night. Both were on my dad’s side of the family—which my mom lovingly refers to as “the witchy side.” When they told me their ghost stories, I just couldn’t get enough.
I’ve been investigating the paranormal for over a decade, which eventually led me to create my own ghost tour company. After going on some incredible tours—and some not-so-great ones—I thought, I can do this. Silent Slayer Ghost Tours was founded on April 8, 2021, and I’ve never looked back. Today, I have five tour guides and a team of dedicated paranormal investigators. We’ve been on countless ghost adventures all over Florida and beyond.
Fun fact: The company name actually came from my fishing nickname—“The Silent Slayer.”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Finding venues that are open to ghost hunting experiences can be surprisingly difficult. Many business owners are hesitant to be associated with the word “haunted,” even when the public already suspects—or knows—that paranormal activity is taking place. If you happen to have a haunted location, we’d love to hear from you. We’re always excited to be the first team to investigate new places.
Weather can also present challenges, especially with Florida’s hot, rainy summers and the occasional hurricane. We don’t operate in dangerous conditions—particularly lightning—because safety is our top priority. So far, no one has turned into a ghost on one of our tours, and I plan to keep it that way.
Over the years, we’ve had our fair share of memorable encounters—both paranormal and otherwise. One property owner became upset after I shared a photo of her historic building on social media. Although I intended to spotlight her inn as part of our tour and help promote it, she chose a different path—threatening legal action instead. We decided to remove the location from our route and keep moving forward.
We’ve also had to deal with competitors who attempted to create misleading tours in our area. One individual in particular targeted our team with harassment both in person and online, requiring legal intervention. Fortunately, that situation was resolved, and we remain committed to delivering authentic and engaging experiences.
Occasionally, we’ve even encountered inappropriate guest behavior—like the time a married man made unwanted advances toward me, both during and after a tour. While it was uncomfortable at the time, the situation ended up going viral thanks to my snarky responses, and our online community had a good laugh over it.
And of course, every small town has its own drama. Local debates about music venues, historic preservation, or community events often spill over into unexpected places. But through it all, we remain focused on our mission: preserving local history, connecting with the spirit world, and creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.

At Silent Slayer Ghost Tours, we specialize in offering unique paranormal experiences all over Florida. From jail sleepovers and haunted hotel stays to creepy cemetery investigations, we take guests beyond the typical ghost tour. And for those who aren’t quite ready to dive into full-on ghost hunting, we also offer walking ghost and haunted history tours in Tampa, Tarpon Springs, Safety Harbor, and Palmetto.
Every tour includes real ghost hunting equipment—yes, even the walking tours! The longer the experience, the more gear we bring. We have five different types of spirit boxes, SLS cameras, motion sensors, EMF detectors, and more. We love introducing people to the tools of the trade and giving them a chance to connect with the spirit world in a respectful, hands-on way.
What sets us apart from the big nationwide chains is that we’re locally owned and operated. Our guides are passionate, and each one brings something different to the table. They do their own historical research, write their own scripts, and talk about the stories and spirits they’re personally fascinated by. No two tours are ever the same—especially since the spirits don’t always show up the same way twice!
What I’m most proud of is how personal and genuine our tours are. We’re not just reciting ghost stories—we’re helping guests make memories with their friends and family, and sometimes even introducing them to something unexplainable.

What matters most to you? Why?
Personally, my family and friends matter most to me. I really value quality of life—enjoying the little moments, staying grounded, and doing things that feel meaningful. I’m also passionate about animal rescue. I’m a foster mom for Limbo Chihuahua Rescue, and if I could adopt every dog, I probably would!
In business, safety is always our number one priority. Beyond that, honesty, integrity, and being genuine truly matter. I always ask guests if they had a good time after my tours—it means a lot to me to know I’ve made someone’s night. There’s nothing better than seeing people smile, feel something, or walk away with a story they’ll never forget.
I also believe in being respectful—to our guests, the locations we visit, and the spirits themselves. We’re not like the paranormal shows on TV that provoke or sensationalize everything. We approach every investigation with curiosity, care, and respect for the history and energy of the space.
