Hidden Gems: Meet Andrea Gonzalez of The Healing Spark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Gonzalez.

Hi Andrea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career in social services in 2013, long before I knew where it would lead. After earning my MSW in 2018, I joined my local school district as a school social worker. Those years shaped me. I sat with students and families through real-life challenges—grief, anxiety, transitions, the everyday pressures that don’t make headlines but live in our homes. That’s when I fell in love with mental health work and decided to pursue my license so I could go further with the people I serve.

I earned my LCSW in April 2024 and opened The Healing Spark, my online private practice, in September 2024. It began as a small, heart-led experiment and quickly became a thriving space. By June 2025, I made the difficult decision to leave my school role and step into private practice full time. It wasn’t easy—schools are where I grew as a clinician and as a human—but it was the right next step.

Today, as the owner of The Healing Spark, I focus on trauma-informed, bilingual care that meets clients where they are. I combine practical tools with warmth and real-world understanding, because healing has to make sense in everyday life. I’m grateful for every twist in the journey—from the school hallways to the therapy room—because each step led me to do the work I love, with the people who trust me with their stories.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a straight line. Stepping into private practice meant stepping into small-business life—things I’d never had to think about before: taxes, health insurance, bookkeeping, marketing, cancellations, and all the tiny nuances that keep a practice running. There were moments of “Is this sustainable?” and times I had to learn boundaries fast so I could protect my time and energy.

There are ups and downs, absolutely. But I love this work. Seeing clients heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves is what keeps me grounded and motivated. Every challenge has pushed me to sharpen my systems, ask for help, and keep The Healing Spark aligned with my values. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been meaningful—and I’m grateful for it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Healing Spark ?
The Healing Spark is a trauma-informed, bilingual (English/Spanish) practice where I combine somatic and narrative therapy with an attachment lens and inner-child work. I help pre-teens, teens, young adults, and adults move through trauma, anxiety, and self-doubt so they can reconnect with their inner spark—the part of them that’s resilient and alive.

I’m known for equal parts heart and practicality. Sessions are warm, structured, and intentional: we anchor in regulation (breath, grounding, body-based skills), make sense of your story (narrative + attachment), and build tools you can use the same day. My years in the school system shaped how I show up—direct, compassionate, and realistic about the pressures my clients are under.

In addition to therapy, I provide immigration psychological evaluations. I work closely with clients (and their legal teams) to document clinical findings, highlight hardship, and help people tell their stories with dignity and detail—so their cases are stronger and more complete.

What sets my brand apart:

– Trauma-informed, attachment-based care with somatic and narrative tools

– Bilingual services (English/Spanish) and culturally responsive support

– Deep experience with teens, plus work with pre-teens and adults

– Secure telehealth for Florida and Texas

– Immigration psychological evaluations that add strength to cases and amplify clients’ voices

I’m most proud that The Healing Spark feels real and heart-forward: clear guidance, evidence-based support, and tools you can actually use day to day.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe in good fortune—and in pairing it with hard work. There have been moments where the right doors opened at the right time: a mentor showed up, a referral came through, a client found me when they needed exactly what I offer. I don’t take that lightly. My job is to be ready for those moments: do the work, keep learning, show up with integrity, and serve well. Luck might bring the opportunity, but consistency keeps it. When things don’t go my way, I try to trust the timing, adjust the plan, and keep moving. That blend—grace plus resiliency—has shaped both my life and The Healing Spark.

Pricing:

  • My standard session rate is $175 out of pocket, and I accept insurance in both Texas and Florida.
  • For immigration psychological evaluations—assessment plus a detailed report—fees range from $600 to $1,000 depending on case complexity.
