Hi Amorliz , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Ecuador and came to the United States at a young age, with one suitcase full of dreams of building a better future through education and hard work. Over the last 25+ years, I built a career in financial services, holding leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies and gaining experience in corporate finance, strategic planning, and business operations.
That journey inspired me to open a new business, ZilRoma Solutions, where I help entrepreneurs and growing businesses navigate the financial side of their companies through Fractional CFO and tax services. My mission is to make financial strategy accessible and practical, simple and easy to learn, so business owners can focus on growth with confidence.
Beyond my business, I’m passionate about giving back to the community in the US and Ecuador, and promoting financial literacy, including through my children’s book series that teaches young readers the basics of money management. For me, success is about using my experience to create opportunities and make a positive impact on others.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I believe every challenge has helped shape who I am today. Like many entrepreneurs, I had to step outside of my comfort zone and transition from the stability of a Fortune 500 career to building my own business while raising a family. That meant taking risks, learning how to market myself, building a client base, and wearing many hats beyond finance.
As a Latina entrepreneur and first-generation immigrant from Ecuador, I also faced the challenge of proving myself in new environments while balancing family, career, and community commitments. There were moments of uncertainty, but I viewed them as opportunities to grow and adapt.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that resilience and relationships matter. Surrounding myself with supportive mentors, colleagues, and clients has made all the difference. Today, those experiences allow me to better understand the challenges business owners face and help them build stronger, more financially sustainable businesses.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. I’ve certainly had moments of good fortune, amazing mentors, supportive family and friends, and opportunities to work with incredible people throughout my 25+ year career in financial services. But I’ve also experienced setbacks and unexpected challenges that forced me to pivot and grow.
One of the biggest leaps of faith was leaving the security of corporate America to build ZilRoma Solutions. That decision involved uncertainty, but it also opened doors to pursue my passion for helping entrepreneurs and families achieve financial success. Looking back, what may have seemed like bad luck at the time often turned into valuable lessons and new opportunities.
My Ecuadorian heritage taught me the importance of resilience, hard work, and community. I don’t believe success comes from luck alone, it comes from showing up consistently, staying true to your values, and being willing to take calculated risks. When opportunities arise, you have to be prepared to embrace them. That’s the mindset that has guided both my life and my business.
