Exploring Life & Business with Theresa Mazzuco of Your Business Blueprint

Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Mazzuco.

Hi Theresa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always known a traditional career path wasn’t for me — I just wasn’t sure what that would look like. My path hasn’t been linear, but every turn led me exactly where I needed to be.

In early 2017, I was 26, working in hospitality and back in school earning my bachelor’s degree, when my dad had a massive heart attack, and overnight, I found myself at his office stepping in to keep his business running. The original plan was to hold things together until he recovered, but, unfortunately, he was never able to return to work, so I took the business over officially to keep it going to support my father. I had no roadmap, no real help, and no idea what I was walking into, but I figured it out one decision at a time. I learned how to lead, manage people who had known me since I was a kid, and make tough calls under pressure. Over time, I modernized the operations, updated the products and services, and grew the business before eventually selling it to one of our long-time employees, who I could not have done it all without.

Since then, I’ve started and operated multiple businesses across completely different industries, including hospitality, events, marketing, and business coaching. Each venture came with its own learning curve, but together they gave me a well-rounded understanding of how businesses run behind the scenes — from finances and systems to marketing and growth. They deepened my understanding of what it takes to build a business that actually works — not just on paper, but for the people running it. After those experiences, I realized how much I loved the process of building and improving businesses — finding what wasn’t working, streamlining it, and watching it thrive.

Through Your Business Blueprint, I get to take everything I’ve learned — the wins, the mistakes, and the lessons from every business I’ve built — and use it to make someone else’s path a little easier. I empower new and early-stage entrepreneurs to build sustainable, scalable businesses by guiding them through the foundational steps, systems, and strategies it takes to start and run a business successfully. My goal is to make entrepreneurship less overwhelming and more achievable — giving business owners the structure and tools they need to grow with confidence and longevity.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely was not a smooth road. I’ve failed, been forced to pivot, and had to rebuild more than once — but every challenge taught me something that shaped how I show up in business and in life.

When I took over my dad’s business, I was thrown in overnight with no training, no help, and a lot of pressure. I made plenty of mistakes, but I learned through trial and error how to run and grow a company under circumstances most people wouldn’t choose. That experience built my resilience — but it wasn’t the last time life tested me.

After selling the business, I tried my hand at several ventures. Some succeeded; some didn’t. I launched an Airbnb arbitrage business that took off quickly but came to a screeching hault after discovering that the property was infested with termites the landlord had knowingly failed to disclose, which ended that chapter abruptly. I also tried dropshipping, which didn’t succeed but gave me valuable lessons about marketing, systems, and alignment.

At the same time, I was navigating my own health challenges, including autoimmune disease, all while helping to care for my dad, who had been diagnosed with lung cancer and Lambert-Eaton Syndome (an MS like illness) in 2022. Shortly after launching Your Business Blueprint last year, we found out his cancer had became terminal. We put him on hospice, and lost him in March of this year, shortly after I started taking my first official clients. Balancing the grief of losing him with trying to run and grow a new business and helping others start theirs was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

But those experiences — the pivots, the losses, the late nights figuring it all out — are exactly what shaped who I am and why I do this work. I know what it feels like to have life throw everything at you at once and still have to find a way forward. That’s why Your Business Blueprint exists: to help entrepreneurs build businesses that are strong enough to withstand the hard seasons, sustainable enough to grow, and structured enough to give them the freedom to live life on their own terms.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Your Business Blueprint?
Your Business Blueprint is where strategy meets structure for new and early-stage entrepreneurs. I help business owners build sustainable, scalable businesses by guiding them through the foundational steps, systems, and strategies needed to start and run a business.

Most people start a business because they’re passionate about what they do — not because they know how to run a business. That’s where I come in. I teach entrepreneurs how to turn that passion into a solid operation: how to set up their LLC and finances properly, define and price their offers, implement systems that save time, and create a go-to-market strategy that actually works. My process is rooted in my 10 Steps to START SMART™ Framework, which walks clients from idea to paying clients — with a lot less Googling.

What sets Your Business Blueprint apart is that it’s not just coaching — it’s hands-on strategy. I don’t give vague advice or recycled templates. I partner with my clients to create real structure and systems they can grow from. Every business I work with leaves with the tools, workflows, and operational foundation they need to scale — whether they’re just getting started or fixing cracks in an existing business foudnation.

Services include:

1:1 Coaching Packages – Personalized coaching to build a business from the ground up using my 10-step framework.

Operations Audit & Overhaul + Fractional COO Packages – For existing businesses ready to streamline, scale, or hand off backend management.

START SMART™ in 6 Weeks Online Course – A self-paced course guiding entrepreneurs through the 10-step framework from idea to launch.

The Pricing Strategy Blueprint – Custom pricing strategies that align with positioning, profitability, and scalability goals.

Blueprint Breakthrough Session (90-Minute Strategy Call) – A focused session to tackle a specific challenge like systems, offers, or launch planning.

Free START SMART™ Strategy Call (30-Minute ) – A complimentary call to assess where you are in your business journey and what to focus on next.

Brand-wise, Your Business Blueprint stands for making entrepreneurship less overwhelming, more strategic, and far more accessible. My goal is to make the knowledge, tools, and strategies that help businesses succeed common knowledge — not gatekept. I want new entrepreneurs to feel confident building something real, not lost trying to figure it all out alone.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely. No one builds something great alone, and I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have people who believed in me even when I wasn’t sure what was next.

First and foremost, my dad. He’s the reason I ever stepped into entrepreneurship, even itho it wasn’t on purpose. Taking over his business changed the entire trajectory of my life, and even after losing him, his work ethic and determination continue to guide every decision I make.

Professionally, I’ve been lucky to have a community of women who have supported me through every stage of Your Business Blueprint — especially the St. Pete Girl Boss community, the Women’s Business League, and the incredible network of women in business across Tampa Bay. Those relationships have given me more than referrals; they’ve given me perspective, accountability, and encouragement when things got hard. Those connections have turned into real friendships that go far beyond business.

And of course, my clients. They’re the heart of what I do. Every project, every call, and every success story pushes me to keep improving my framework and finding better ways to make entrepreneurship more accessible and sustainable for everyone starting out.

On a personal level, I couldn’t do any of this without the support of my fiancé, Nico. He has been my biggest cheerleader through it all — supporting every pivot, late night, and leap of faith (with only a little convincing). My sister Bridget, and the rest of my family, have also been my constant source of support through every new chapter. And my childhood best friends, Tatiana and Melissa — my self-appointed “board of directors” — have been there every step of the way, offering advice, laughter, and a healthy dose of honesty when I need it most.

I’m endlessly grateful for every person who’s been part of this journey.
