Exploring Life & Business with Laura Vera of Laura Beauty Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Vera.

Hi Laura, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Venezuela, and when I came to the U.S., I had to start completely from zero. I didn’t speak the language, I didn’t have a clear path—I just had faith, determination, and a dream to create a better life.

While studying, I did waxing services from home and even drove to clients’ houses to make ends meet. When the pandemic hit and I lost my job, I felt scared, but that moment pushed me to open my first tiny studio. That small space became my safe place, my second chance, and the beginning of everything.

Two years later, God blessed me with the reunion of my sister Danita, and together we’ve poured our hearts into building this business. She’s been my strength and my partner in everything.

Meanwhile, I kept studying nonstop until I finally earned my nursing degree. Now I’m continuing my education on the path to becoming a Nurse Practitioner—something I once thought was impossible for me.

My journey has been full of challenges, but every step has shaped me. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and even more grateful for everything still ahead.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting over in a new country, not speaking the language, and trying to build a life from zero was one of my first big challenges. I worked, studied, and pushed through many moments of doubt while trying to grow both personally and professionally.

When the pandemic hit and I lost my job, it forced me to open my first tiny studio with almost no resources. As the business started to grow, I realized how much I still needed to learn. That’s when my husband stepped in and began helping with the accounting. Having everything organized in numbers helped me understand the business better and correct mistakes I didn’t even know I was making.

It hasn’t been easy at all—there were financial pressures, long nights of studying to finish my nursing degree, and a lot of trial and error. But through it all, God has been faithful, and I’m incredibly grateful for the family I have. Their support has been the reason I’ve been able to keep going and continue building this dream.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Laura Beauty Center is a family-owned wellness and aesthetics business built with a lot of love, faith, and intention. What makes us different is that we’ve grown from the heart—step by step—until, thanks to God, we were even able to purchase our own commercial property.

We offer a variety of services focused on beauty, skin health, and overall wellness, including advanced facials, body contouring, IV therapy, Botox, weight-loss treatments, and soon hormone therapy—something we’re very excited to introduce. Everything we do is personalized, safe, and rooted in education, because helping women feel confident and supported is our purpose.

More than anything, what sets us apart is the feeling people get when they walk through our doors. Our clients tell us it feels like home—and that’s true, because it is. My sister Danita and I run the business together, my husband supports us through the financial and operational side, my mom often helps us, and even my daughter is already learning and joining the journey. It’s a real family effort, and that energy is felt in every service we provide.

I’m proud of our brand because it reflects who we are: a family united, hard-working, grateful, and committed to serving our community with honesty, warmth, and excellence. We want readers to know that Laura Beauty Center is more than a place to look better—it’s a space to feel cared for, understood, and empowered.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about our city is the people. Tampa has this friendly, welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you belong from day one. The mix of cultures, the relaxed lifestyle, and the sense of community… it’s honestly the perfect place to build a life and a business. Moving here was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

What I like least? Definitely the summer humidity. Tampa in July feels like you’re walking straight into a sauna fully clothed. And as an aesthetic provider, I can always tell when summer is here because everyone shows up with extra sunspots—the sun is working overtime out here, haha. But even with the heat, the humidity, and the “Florida sun kisses” on everyone’s skin, I absolutely love this city and everything around it. It’s home.
