Hi Katherine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into pet sitting came from a very personal place. In 2020, I lost my son, Avery, to suicide, and it completely changed my life. After moving to Florida to be closer to my parents, I started helping my mom with some light pet sitting.
I quickly realized how much comfort and healing came from spending time with animals, and that inspired me to start Puppy Passion Pet Services. What began as a way to cope with grief has grown into a business where I get to care for pets and give families peace of mind every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a business while still healing from the loss of my son was incredibly hard, and there were days when my grief felt overwhelming. But caring for pets gave me purpose and helped me keep going.
On the business side, I had to figure out everything from marketing to scheduling to building trust with new clients. It was a big learning curve, but each challenge taught me something valuable.
Looking back, those struggles made me stronger — not just as a business owner but as a person. They’ve shaped Puppy Passion into what it is today: a service built on compassion, reliability, and genuine love for animals.

Puppy Passion Pet Services is all about loving your pets like they’re our own. We offer pet sitting, drop-in visits, dog walking, and even overnight care — but what really matters is that we keep pets happy, safe, and feeling loved while their people are away.
What makes us different is the personal attention we give. We take the time to learn each pet’s routine, quirks, and favorite things, so every visit feels familiar and fun for them. Many of our clients tell us their pets get excited when we show up — and honestly, that’s the best part of the job!
