Exploring Life & Business with Jenna Rodriguez of Picnic Chemistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Rodriguez.

Hi Jenna , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I started, luxury picnics were still a relatively new concept in my area. There wasn’t a roadmap, a mentor, or a proven formula to follow. I saw an opportunity to create meaningful experiences and decided to take a chance on myself.

Like many entrepreneurs, I started with a very limited budget. I couldn’t afford to hire a team of experts, so I became one. I taught myself how to build a website, learned marketing through trial and error, figured out pricing, sales, branding, and customer service along the way. Every challenge became a lesson, and every lesson helped shape the business into what it is today.

There were moments when things felt overwhelming. Balancing a full-time career, being a mother, and building a business from the ground up required long nights, sacrifices, and a lot of persistence. But I never lost sight of why I started.

At its core, Picnic Chemistry was never just about beautiful setups. It was about creating intentional moments for people to connect, celebrate, and make memories. Whether it’s a proposal, a micro wedding, a birthday, or a simple gathering with loved ones, the purpose has always been bigger than the décor itself.

Looking back, I’m proud not only of what I’ve built, but of how I built it. With limited resources, no blueprint, and plenty of obstacles, I chose to keep going. My journey is proof that you don’t need to have everything figured out before you start. Sometimes all you need is a vision, a strong work ethic, and the courage to believe in yourself before anyone else does.

I wasn’t following a blueprint—I was building one.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely, but it’s important especially when manifesting and building to watch our words. So I like to say lessons rather than struggles. Because in every “struggle” is a lesson and silver lining. So when they say “when building a business you are also building yourself” it’s very true.

There are many challenges entrepreneurs can face, like work and life balance. I’ve experienced extreme burnout at times where I feel like I’m just going through the motions. Which can easily leave us feeling drained. Especially in my case being a mom and having a career as well.

I’ve learned to make sure I carve out time for self care or friends. Making sure we show up for ourselves, so we can show up better for others and our business is highly important.

This has taught me a lot about myself learning what fills my cup, and what drains it. It’s important to me to keep my excitement about my work and my life. And that includes finding joy not in just the grand achievements but joy in the mundane.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Some people have referenced me as the “Picnic Girl” as I own a pop-up picnic company. HOWEVER it has grown into so much more than that now.

I specialize in picnics but I am a professional in the special events industry. So i have pushed and reimagined the way we picnic. With creative tablescapes, plush pillows, fresh flowers, snacks, tents, decor and knowledge of the best locations. I took my idea, and offered the services or setup and breakdown (convenience) and customization.

What started off as special date nights and anniversaries, has grown into large party celebrations, proposals, and weddings.

What sets my business aside though, is my attention to creative details and my love for giving back to the community. It is a luxury experience but I also give flowers to every party for them to take home. Or other lovely touches like fresh baby’s breath and fruits lining the table. And I mention giving back to the community as we have donated countless picnics to charities for fundraisers, or holidays like Mother’s Day.

I also truly care about every customers experience. I personally special to every customer and always available for questions and making sure my customers have a peace of mind, a great experience and memories they will have forever.

What does success mean to you?
Success is many things in my eyes.

But I will start with that wealth is not success in my eyes.

A person can be rich but poor in character, wisdom, love or purpose. All in which money cannot buy.

So I say success is when someone is living a passionate life that aligns with their values and beliefs. And if you get to make money doing that, that is when I can say that is a successful life.
