Today we’d like to introduce you to Audra Coons, LCSW.
Hi Audra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in small town America, living on a single family farm which taught me discipline, responsibility and a connection to and appreciation for nature. While many happy and loving memories I created, I also experienced dysfunctional patterns within my family unit stemming from addiction, emotional suppression, and lack of self worthiness. Socially and in academic settings, I thrived while experiencing rewards for conformity. From this dynamic upbringing, I formed perceptions that lended itself to perfectionism, taking on emotional responsibility that was not my own, and believing I needed to rescue others.
When I discovered the field of psychology and personal development, I was hooked and immersed myself in all I could learn for many years, allowing a path to overcome hardships and uncover self shadows. Taking a direct path to learn human behavior inside and out, I obtained my undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology, social work, and then became a licensed LCSW therapist. I entered into private practice in 2016, and have operated my own virtual holistic counseling practice specialized in women’s health since 2019.
A constant throughout these years was following my heart and continually making expansive moves that allowed me to experience new versions of myself through adventures, opportunities, and diverse culture and backgrounds far from the range I had grown up with. I studied abroad, traveled to 10+ countries, and met my husband on a beach which led me to live both a beautiful beach and city life during my 15 years living and working in Florida – spending nearly 5 years on the Eastern Coast, and the last decade in the heart of Tampa.
Last year my husband and I relocated to the rolling hills of Kentucky, while I continue to service Tampa Bay, and all of Florida in my practice, and remain personally connected in South Tampa and the surrounding areas. In fact, we will be visiting the week following from when I am writing this.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t call it smooth – I’d call it a winding, scenic road with peaks and valleys, feeling the wind in my hair.
By 2021, I realized I had succeeded in my professional vision for my life, as well as created a happy marriage and home – while life’s challenges had taken a toll on me, my health and I had lost my zest for life which put all my success in jeopardy.
I was called to establish my vision for the next part of my life, live in my values and truly claim my insatiable drive for ongoing growth and expansion. I had a spiritual reawakening that year, both reconnecting with myself and reestablishing a relationship with God after rebelling from my religious upbringing. I deepened into my inner work and started tending to each part of myself one by one – physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, relationally and so on.
It has been both the most challenging and most rewarding experience I’ve had thus far. I transformed not only my body, health, and marriage, I transcended my hidden internal pains into purpose and pleasure. It really has been a magical experience.
I am more attuned with my intuition, mission in life, and internal peace and satisfaction than ever before. My radiance and zest for life has returned which is something that feels natural to me, and something I pride myself in carrying within and radiating out to others.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about This Radiant Woman?
I’ve merged my professional expertise as a holistic therapist with my internal knowing, lived experience and embodied wisdom, to create This Radiant Woman, a movement and mentoring space, a personal development platform to liberate women. Specifically, I love working with fiery driven women with big dreams, who also want to integrate their feminine and intuitive essence, and live passionately and prosperously.
I guide them in their own empowerment, embodiment and freedom so they, too, can be lit up for life, loved and adored, and pour (from a full cup) into their family, community and mission based businesses.
It’s about creating inner harmony and impact for the highest good of humanity.
I offer my work through a variety of services – activating online experiences, wise woman gatherings, coaching and mentorship programs, personal development courses, and private sessions. One day I envision hosting or being part of retreats.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I am grateful for every single challenge, recognizing each one is an opportunity for expansion, and overcoming personal hardships is what has allowed me to become more of my true self, as well as know, live and breathe what I truly care about.
I’ve also learned the value of nourishment. I am now living in more harmony than I’ve experienced thus far, and attuning to my unique gifts I am here to bring to the world – as an intuitive healer, light bringer, Wise Woman activator, and uplifting spirit.
