Today we’d like to introduce you to Ambee Stephens.
Hi Ambee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I didn’t start EmpowHERment from a place of comfort, I started it in the middle of loss. After my father passed away, I was searching for light in one of the darkest seasons of my life. What began as small conversations with women who were also hurting grew into a movement that now serves thousands through free therapy, business programs, and community events. In 2020, we opened the EmpowHERment Community Center in Clearwater, Florida, creating a safe space where women and families can heal, grow, and chase their purpose. Along the way, I launched Purpose Chaser to pour into Black women founders and wrote Hello Somebody – a poetry book to anyone who’s ever felt unseen or forgotten. My journey hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been guided by faith, and every twist and turn has prepared me to do the work I’m called to do.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
HA! What’s a smooth road for a Purpose Chaser? Between loss, change, betrayals, and awakenings, nothing about this journey has been smooth. But purpose isn’t found on a straight, freshly paved road, it’s found in the twists, turns, potholes, and detours that force you to grow. Every obstacle has been a lesson, and every lesson has shaped me into the woman and leader I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m the Founder & CEO of EmpowHERment, an all-inclusive community for women and families where we help people find the light in dark places. We provide no-cost therapy, workshops, business programs, and events that inspire and equip women to rise above hardship and chase their purpose. Through our programs, we’ve helped women launch businesses, heal from trauma, and build futures they never thought possible.
I’m also the creator of Purpose Chaser, a brand and movement dedicated to supporting founders and purpose-driven women. It’s about reminding women that their calling matters and that their story can spark change.
And then there’s Hello Somebody, the book I wrote for the woman who feels unseen, unheard, or undervalued. It’s my testimony and my love letter to anyone who’s ever wondered if they matter. Spoiler alert: you do.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just talk about empowerment – I live it. I’ve walked through loss, betrayal, and setbacks, and I’ve turned those experiences into fuel for helping others. Brand-wise, I’m most proud that our work doesn’t just inspire, it changes lives in tangible ways.
At the heart of everything I do is this: I want women to know they’re not alone, their story isn’t over, and their purpose is still calling.
In a world full of paper chasers, chase your purpose. If you chase your purpose, the paper will follow – Ambee Stephens
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck, believe in faith. Everything in my life and business has been guided by God’s timing, not chance. What some might call ‘bad luck,’ I see as lessons or redirection. And what others might call ‘good luck’ is really the fruit of faith, obedience, and perseverance. My path hasn’t been random, it’s been intentional, even when I couldn’t see the bigger picture in the moment. Things happen FOR me, not TO you!
