Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Everett.
Liz, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I always say that I was born with a Vogue magazine in my hand. I feel like fashion and image back to me. I’ve always loved how someone’s personal presentation tells a huge part of the story of who they are.
As a little girl, my idols were Tina Turner, Elizabeth Taylor, Dolly Parton, and Diana Ross. I loved how they used clothing to convey emotion or the story behind their album. I have studied their delivery for years and I often bring in the cues learned from that strategic study to help my clients tell their story visually in a legendary way.
I believe I embraced that spark within me as a little girl pretending to put on concerts all the time in my playroom. Barry Manilow was often my record of choice with Copa Cabana. I could see the Las Vegas stage. I always imagined how I would be styled with a grand feather headdress. I was going to dance and sing a song that moved people in the audience like they were in church.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think the beauty of God’s light is often in the journey. It has not been a super smooth road. As a young woman I battled with depression and more recently I have really had to deal with sometimes overwhelming anxiety. At one point a few years ago every time I got on the plane I was having panic attacks. It really took a toll on me privately, because that was not something I felt comfortable to share openly.
I think that shocks people a lot of times because they always see me as kind of an invincible character. Yet, I have found the strength in my vulnerability. It took great counsel, as well as deep identity work to really begin to heal over time.
I’ve always been a very highly motivated person. Yet, there can be so much inner conflict when you know that your path is not a “normal” one. I am an artist first, so being a creator can keep you locked in your head a lot of times too. I find that what has alleviated me feeling burdened by my relentless pursuit is embracing being a lifelong student. It has really freed me to be open to the journey and to collaborating.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Everett Consulting International, LLC.?
Everett Consulting International is an image consulting firm that strategizes elevated style and visual brand strategies. I always say it’s my job bring the legendary elements of every project to life. It’s an amazing thing when you have the opportunity to be a part of your client’s living their dreams.
As a certified image consultant and fashion stylist, I have been able to really hone my skills with helping people look like what they sell. Now as a creative director, for several higher level brands I also build a team around people to help them to facilitate bringing their full vision to life.
I focus on getting my clients ready for the spotlight. Being camera ready has given my clients the freedom to prepare themselves to deliver their message on live video and on the national television with confidence.
That journey looks different with each person, but I love taking that ride with my clients. Sometimes the person is just starting out and they know they need to elevate their personal presentation. The problem is, they don’t know where to start. For those people, I engineer a comprehensive plan that includes their grooming, styling, personal brand, promo photos, and so much more. I really take a deep dive to get my client ready for the publicist or simply preparing them to slay on camera for their own live video opportunities.
After 20 years on sets in different capacities, I realize what it takes to bring a vision to life so I am working closely with authors, influencers, and industry leaders to develop their promotional projects that truly align with their brand values. It’s all about helping them develop an image strategy that brings their ultimate vision to life.
I have studied branding since 2011 so it is an incredible full-circle moment to bring my love for image into relationship with how we visually express a brand in its fullness.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am a karaoke queen! I am not the best singer in the world, but I absolutely love to karaoke. I always start with “At Last” or “Free Falling” and move into “Black Velvet”. I just love to sing. It releases stress and it is so much fun.
