Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Howard.
Hi Kate, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I became interested in real estate in college as I was the property manager for the home I lived in at the age of 18. I began my career as a contract specialist in 2005, fresh out of college working for the Federal Government, met my husband, Justin shortly after, and we married in 2008. After about 7 years as a civilian, I had an itch to invest in real estate in the hopes of moving up my retirement age with passive income because I couldn’t see myself sitting there another 20+ years. We bought our first rental property in 2012, and after purchasing our 2nd rental property, I decided to get my real estate license in 2013 as a part-time job so that I could earn additional funds to invest.
My life was then flipped upside down in 2014 when I tragically lost my husband to a brain injury. He was not only my husband but my best friend and business partner. As you can imagine, this experience had me evaluating my life and how I was going to proceed. I continued with both jobs and kept my body and mind busy working nights and weekends. Then my mother passed away unexpectedly from an aneurysm. That’s when I decided life was too short to not pursue my passion, I quit my government job to pursue real estate full-time.
Since then, I’ve purchased 12 more properties, started a real estate team, and got married to another amazing man, Aaron. We took a leap of faith this past year and left our lives in Iowa to move to Sarasota, Florida to start our businesses where the sun shines!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am brokered with eXp Realty. I guide buyers and sellers looking to “ReloKate” to Florida. I also help first-time investors start their journey. I have helped clients buy and sell over 600 homes so far in my career. I am a listing specialist who assists sellers in making their home look the best it’s ever been when they go on the market with my expertise in staging, decluttering, rearranging, video marketing, and more to optimize the home selling experience.
Since I just moved to the state, I have a lot of helpful tips and tricks of making the relocation process as smooth as possible.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My determination, integrity, and adversity.
