Dr. Cristy Berry’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dr. Cristy Berry. Check out our conversation below.

Cristy , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
The most understood thing about my business and any business is that we need to be available 24/7. Grinding does not produce more business, it instead burns us out and ends up harming our own health. Instead of feeling like you need to be available all the time, set office hours and stick to it. This creates margin your day to be more present in work, family and friends relationships. This has make the most impact in my business growth.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Dr. Cristy Berry, owner of Bfit Holistic Health and Wellness. I have a PhD in Natural medicine. I run a virtual Holistic Health practice. My practice focus is gut health and inflammation. I look at ROOT causes of the symptoms and the whole person rather than just the symptom for healing. My practice is unique in that I have had over 15 years of health struggles and lived in a disease state. I can relate to the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual struggles a health crisis can cause. I spend time really understanding the person, their past, their lifestyle, their emotional state in order to know how to direct them in their healing. I utilize multiple modalities such as castor oil packing, Red light therapy, infrared sauna, dietary changes, herb and homeopathics as tools for healing. I integrate nutrition and exercise coaching as part of the Holistic approach. My brand is about transformation, hope and empowerment as we heal and become more.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I believed that I could not overcome my situation, that I was not as smart, as pretty, as talented as other kids. As I went through life, I stayed quiet, just going through life like I thought I should but never sought to find my purpose. When I went through my health crisis, I discovered that I was made for more. I could chose my path and I could control some things that I never thought were possible. I never felt enough as a child. I did not feel that I could make others proud of me. Going through something hard like a health diagnosis allowed me to realize I was made for more. God had a path for me bigger and better than I could have ever imagined. I went through a physical transformation, but also an emotional and spiritual transformation that has allowed me to be the Practitioner, wife, mother, daughter and friend that I never saw possible. I am now using my past to help others see the potential in their future and that trauma from our past does not define us.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
The one kind thing I would say to my younger self is, I believer in you and I am proud of you. You have overcome obstacles in life that for most would be a hinderance, but you have become more.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lies that the healthcare industry tells itself is that medicine heals. The truth is that medicine harms in many cases. People need to realize that medicine is meant for acute illness such as an emergency situation, something life threatening. Medicine is not meant to be used to day to day management or health. It is just a bandaid approach and makes you feel the issue is gone, but under the surface it is still there and now more issue due to the destructive nature of medications. Have you ever watched the commercials on tv? There is more time spent giving the side effects than how the medicine can help. We need to be thinkers for our health and lifestyle and stop letting social media, marketing and media tell us what is best for us. We are the only ones that truly understand our bodies. People need to start listening to the body and really understand what it is saying then the medication is no longer needed.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peach when I am reading my bible and praying. Nothing else matters. I have a Lord and Savior that hears me, protects me and prospers me. I can’t say that about humans. I feel peace knowing that I don’t have to have things figured out or worry because life is not in my control. I think the world would be more peaceful, joyful and prosperous if more people had Jesus as their Savior.
