Daily Inspiration: Meet Rachel Kruse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Kruse.

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been doing massage for 21 years now. I had a natural feel and ability for massage. So I was encouraged to go to massage school. When I got in school I quickly realized I was meant to do massage, I loved every bit of it. As a result I soaked up as much of the education as I could and did very well in school.
I have spent the majority of my career working in Chiropractic offices. There I had thre chance to see a lot of injuries and learn how to best help them. My formal training of therapeutic massage which includes neuromuscular therapy, trigger point therapy, mayofacial release technique and sports massage allowed me to effectively treat the injuries and get healing results.
While.I worked I started noticing I had a great gift of intuition about someone and their pain. And I started to realize that our pain is not just physical, but emotional too. I was able to see or feel what someone was carrying emotionally.
As I began to see this aspect more clearly it was a great benefit to the patient.
Things started to change when I would get massaged. (For my own neck pain) I did gymnastics as a kid for about 9 years. Did you know that you get whiplash from doing gymnastics? Well I didnt until I started to receive my own care.and work for a chiropractor.
As I would get massaged I started to see through feeling the muscles in a different way, and my emotional pain was illuminated through their fingers. I was able to “see” or feel the emotions I was keeping trapped in my body.
You see I had suffered my own trauma through life circumstance.
It took me a while to realize what I was experiencing, and the gift that God had given me to be able to “see” emotions in the body. I went on this way for a while, seeing but not knowing what I was doing. It wasn’t until.about 3 years later did I have a name for what I was doing. Its called ” Somatic Release ” massage. I started in perform this Somatic massage but didnt truly surrender to the fact that God wanted me to be doing this work until another 3 to 4 years, when I finally surrendered my work to God and told him I would do what he asked, did things start to fall in place. We moved from Tampa to Plant City, and it was about a year of living in Plant City when I got the job at a Chiropractic office in Plant City, Working for Doctor Souther.
I had a client that I had been massaging for a number of years that would see Dr. Jafri, and she told Dr. Jafri about me. When I started working in Plant City, it was so convenient for Dr. Jafri to refer patients to me, that my Somatic work really started to take off. Or was it the surrender to God? 😊
Turns out I love Somatic work more than any other massage I have learned. However it uses the techniques I learned to really release the emotions in the body.. So interesting how things work out.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been mostly smooth.
Because I.care so deeply for the patients I work on and with my education and zeal for massage it wasn’t difficult to get clients or to keep them. I am able to really help people, so they keep coming back.

The surrendering part of Somatic work was probably the most difficult thing for me. Recognizing I had these gifts and then utilizing the gifts that God had given me. But wow! What a wonderful blessing. For both, the receiver of somatic work and The Giver..
It is a blessing for me to watch others transform literally right before my eyes.
I love getting patients to the place where they dont have to see me anymore.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Somatic Release Therapy.
Mayofacial Release, neuromuscular Therapy, trigger point Therapy and Thai massage.
I still.work for both the Chiropractor and I work for myself
Most of the massage for the Chiropractor is the therapeutic massage mixed with sports for relief of pain and injury.
On my side of things I perform mostly Somatic work.

I am known for being able to help the client with their pain, because of my training , I have a pretty strong grip, and good pressure, some may call it deep tissue. But deep tissue is relative to your pain. If you are hurting, it feels deeper. Etc

I think I am most proud of the ability God has given me to not give up. Not only in life when things get tough, but in massage and work as well. Life isn’t easy and it’s not about what life gives you, but what you do with what you have been given.
What sets me apart is that I am very detailed, thorough, and not lazy, even when I am tired you will always get a good massage.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
The wonderful smells coming from the kitchen.
My mom is a great cook and she always cooked for her family, walking into a house that smelled of something delicious is one of my favorite memories.

Once when I was about 7 or 8. My dad told all of us kids to get dressed in old dirty clothes. And he took us to a giant dirt pile on one of his construction sights and let us climb up and down, slide down just have fun on this dirt hill.
