Daily Inspiration: Meet Paul Todd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Todd.

Hi Paul, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been tattooing for 12 years now. After bouncing from shop to shop and never being satisfied with how things were run, I decided to open my own studio. The first time around I had a business partner and I quickly learned, that also wasn’t for me. I branched out alone and opened my own studio called Four Peaks Professional Tattooing in Delaware.

It’s been successfully running for almost 5 years now and I left it behind to move to Florida. Shortly after moving here, I opened Cutaway Professional Tattooing with the help of my amazing girlfriend. Although I still tattoo now, my interest is more so in the business aspect of tattooing. I always try to educate and help my team advance in their own personal careers as well.

I’ve taken on apprentices before and I’m currently teaching my girlfriend, Rachel how to tattoo. I love challenging myself to learn and grow but I also love sharing that knowledge with my crew. I have an 11-year-old daughter, Trinity, who I try to teach the same morals and values to as well! Running a business in Delaware, and now also Florida has been challenging with all of the tasks from afar.

My new goal is to cut ties with Four Peaks and open a second location here in Florida, but there’s no telling exactly where yet. The future is bright and life is short. My motto is to work hard, play hard. I’m building a future of freedom, for not only myself but for all of those in my circle as well! Life is short and every single breath is important to me!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve had my large share of hiccups and happenings and I’ve learned so much along the way. It’s not easy running a business but the reward is far worth all of the risk! Nothing in life worth having is an easy road! I’d say my hardest challenge thus far is finding people that match my energy and care to advance far into the future of freedom.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Ah! I love this question a lot! I can proudly say that I’ve traveled the long road. I’ve earned to be exactly where I stand today. Multiple successful businesses, amazing sponsorships, and a comfortable, beautiful workplace that I call my own! I’ve tattooed everything most people can think of and a lot of times I hated doing it.

In the beginning, tattooing subject matters we aren’t into is strictly part of the process. Now, after years of traveling and learning from the world’s best, conventions, seminars, one on one’s, and more, I’ve advanced in my art to be picky in what I take on.

My specialty is realism, bold color, OR black and gray. I love them equally for different reasons. I will say, I’m known for my color work but I’m capable of both. I’m proud to not be a “one trick pony”! If a request comes to me I know in my heart that I’m capable of taking it on, whether I chose to accept it or not is a different story haha.

What were you like growing up?
Most of my life was spent pretending to be Tommy Oliver from The Power Rangers! (Rest in peace JDF) I was always the leader, I never followed. My goal from being a small child all the way through now was to always stay true to what I felt and believed. I always wanted to lead the way and help the ones I surrounded myself with. Nothing has changed as far as that’s concerned! I’m still out here talking about “It’s MORPHIN TIME”!!
