Daily Inspiration: Meet Naji Bent-Vasquez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naji Bent-Vasquez.

Hi Naji, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The studio was already built in my house growing up. My father and grandfather were both engineers, so I was surrounded by it early, but I didn’t take an interest until my last year of high school. Up until then, I was preparing to become a doctor, but I switched paths and enrolled in Full Sail University’s accelerated program. I finished in under two years and earned my bachelor’s degree at 20. After graduating, I started running a business out of the same studio I grew up around. What I know came partly from school, partly from my father, and a lot from teaching myself—experimenting, working with clients, and studying on my own. That combination shaped how I work today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Running a studio comes with constant challenges—especially starting young. In the beginning, people didn’t always take me seriously because of my age, so I had to prove myself through results. On top of that, building a business means handling more than just recording: finding clients, managing finances, upgrading gear, and learning how to market myself all came with trial and error. There were times where bookings were slow, or I felt like I was investing more money and time than I was making back. Balancing self-education with running sessions wasn’t easy either. But every obstacle forced me to level up—whether that meant refining my skills, learning business strategy, or adapting to what artists actually needed. Those struggles built the foundation for how I run things today.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I run Lucid Recording Studioz, where I specialize in recording, mixing, and mastering. What I’m known for is creating a space that feels more like a “therapy room” than a typical studio. The vibe is just as important as the sound—I want artists to feel comfortable enough to experiment and give their best performance.

Technically, I focus on clean, modern mixes that translate across platforms while still keeping the character of the artist intact. I’ve worked with a wide range of artists and built my reputation on consistency, attention to detail, and making sure every client leaves with something they’re proud of.

What sets me apart is the combination of professional-level gear, a personal approach, and the fact that I’m invested in artist development—not just pressing record. I’m most proud of being able to grow this from my home studio into a full business that supports both me and the artists I work with.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can work with me directly by booking sessions at Lucid Recording Studioz or reaching out for mixing and mastering services through my site lucidmixedit.com. I also collaborate with artists who want more than just studio time—whether it’s creative direction, performance coaching, or developing their sound.

Support can come in many forms: sharing my work, recommending my services, or checking out the digital products I’ve created like presets and templates. I’m also open to collaborating with other creatives, brands, and entrepreneurs who want to build something meaningful in music and culture.
