Daily Inspiration: Meet Nadia Weekes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia Weekes.

Hi Nadia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Top Knot Swim really grew organically from something I loved doing into a business I never expected to build. I started by making swimwear for myself and experimenting with different prints, fits, and ways of wearing each piece. Over time, people started asking where my suits were from, and that interest gave me the push to turn the idea into a real brand.

Since then, it’s been a lot of learning as I’ve started figuring out the business side, growing the brand, and staying true to the reason I started it in the first place. What began as a small creative project has grown into a brand I’m incredibly proud of, and I’m excited to keep seeing where it can go.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to grow a small business while still doing so much of the work myself. There have been plenty of moments where I’ve had to figure things out as I went, take risks, and learn from things that didn’t work.

The biggest lesson has been learning to be patient with the process. Building a brand takes time, and there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes that people don’t always see. But those challenges have also pushed me to grow, become more adaptable, and trust my instincts as a business owner.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Alongside running Top Knot Swim, I work as a travel consultant, which has become another passion of mine. I love helping people turn an idea for a trip into an experience that feels completely tailored to them. I specialize in creating personalized travel plans, from finding the right destinations and accommodations to planning the details that make a trip feel effortless.

What I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built with my clients and the trust they place in me. I think what sets me apart is that I genuinely care about the experience from start to finish. I’m not just booking a trip, I’m getting to know what people enjoy, how they like to travel, and what will make the experience special for them.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about Tampa is the combination of city life, beautiful weather, and access to the water. I love that it has a laid-back, coastal feel while still offering plenty of restaurants, entertainment, culture, and opportunities for people to connect. The city also seems to have a great balance between being vibrant and giving people space to enjoy the outdoors.

What I like least is probably the heat and humidity, especially during the summer months. Tampa’s rapid growth can also mean more traffic and congestion, which can take away from some of the relaxed atmosphere that makes the city appealing.
