Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Renfroe.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I spent 8 1/2 years in the Marine Corps in a combat MOS. Did 2 combat deployments to Iraq (2005-2006) (2006-2007) Got out in 2012 and wanted a job that I could be artistic in and be my own boss. As well as something that could help with my mental health. I always remembered my grandmas hair salon growing up and how happy people were to be in there. I always loved that atmosphere.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely been a journey. I drove down to Tampa from Michigan by myself. Fresh start in an up and coming city and a dream to impact people in a positive way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in classic haircuts. Pompadours, slick backs etc. But I do everything. I really love doing clean taper fades or skin fades. I pride myself not only in my clipper work but also my scissor work and attention to detail.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’m 100% disabled from my military career and combat deployments, so my risk taking days are behind me. But if I were speaking to a younger person I would tell them that risk is part of life. You don’t wanna look back and wonder what if.
