Daily Inspiration: Meet Maya Mouis

Hi Maya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was a professional fashion model from Europe from late 80’s. I always like to be on other sites of photoshoots. When I get older, I opened modeling management, platform and placement center for aspiring models. I was hiring photographers telling them what they need to do and how photo should look like, then I did for them styling and makeup and hair. In one moment, I was tired of directing them and I decide to do it all by myself. So in 2000, I open Maya Mouis photostudio.

Since I start to advertise, I also start to have different clients not only from fashion industry but all kinds of they start to ask me if I can do boudoir or families or maternity all kinds of photoshoot. So I had all kinds of clients and I saw many of those woman can do modeling and they didn’t know that. So I discovered fashion models this way and lifestyle models for beauty products. In 2005 I decided to open Maria Schon model agency Inc. as well here in St.Petersburg. I travel to Paris twice a year and in that moment I am offering to local fashion designers photoshoot under Eiffel Tower and in the city of Paris for fashion image. Last year I was invited to do photoshoot in hotel Vendôme Ritz for Paris Fashion week 2019 as well.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is to see beauty everywhere in all ages. I try to find that beauty angle like I say, everybody have that. Some say they are not photogenic before we start our session and it’s not true, it really depends on angles. I am proud when I discover models in any age and they are happy with their pictures. I can see they have motivation for their own life it’s a kind of makeover before and after shoot… I also provide makeup and hairstyle. Helping to select their clothing for photoshoot. What set me apart from others? It’s maybe because I was model and I see that beauty in every face, I always say that.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My best memory was to go to train station to watch people how they traveling and what they are wearing also airports. Always like to watch people there.
