Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Marie Oliver.
Hi Lisa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After years of research, stalking talented artists’ work, and seeing beautiful results, I decided it was time to get my brows microbladed as I had overplucked in the early 2000s. The confidence boost it gave me when I looked in the mirror was unexplainable. I was overcome with emotions that something as silly as eyebrows could make me as happy as they did.
I felt my face was complete, and it made me feel so good that I wanted that same empowering and confident feeling for other women. Today, I have helped almost 300 women feel the same way I did in 2016. Seeing the positive responses to a natural look with eyebrows keeps me going!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Ups and downs are expected with any new venture. When I got started, Covid was still quite heavy, and there were several delays with products arriving, causing scheduling pushbacks and more.
Of course, switching careers from corporate to business ownership in the beauty world was a bumpy ride. I wondered and stressed over so many things, many of which were out of my control, but persistence and constantly promoting myself got me through it. I wondered who would trust me with their face, who would refer me, who would come back?
I gave away a lot of work in return and would ask for pictures for content and honest reviews, and that plan worked wonderfully as I learned so much along the way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I offer permanent makeup (brows specifically) and specialize in an all-natural look with microblading and nano brows. I truly believe in a less is more look that is age-appropriate and still fits the client’s needs and overall look.
I feel what sets me apart is keeping in constant communication during the appointment with my client. Making her aware of what is being done, what to expect, and aftercare. There is a lot happening during the healing process, and for many, this is a big change with no surprises or sugarcoating.
I’m most proud of the progress made over the years, and I am constantly seeking my older work to see how far I’ve come and to keep encouraging myself. Practice and consistency have gotten me to the position I am in today.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That every set of brows is a fun and new challenge that I welcome! I absolutely love what I do and have an appreciation for the relationships I’ve created over the years.
