Daily Inspiration: Meet Christina Arenas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Arenas.

Hi Christina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I created Blue Sage EcoBoutique in 2013 while in grad school at USF, Patel College of Global Sustainability. Before starting grad school, I was an education coordinator for a major natural cosmetic manufacturer. During that time, I realized there was a disconnect between the average consumer and the green consumer. At that time many consumers associated green products with either being unaffordable or a “hippie.” Also, at the time, many consumers were becoming more aware of the food they ate but not necessarily the products they used inside of their home. I wanted to create Eco-friendly candles that were affordable, good quality, and esthetically pleasing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing is a smooth road. Lessons are learned from taking the road less traveled. My journey is definitely that lol I believe part of my experience with being a business owner is to learn how to travel the smoother and more difficult parts of my journey with compassion and to learn the lesson. That’s part of the lesson, the growth.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an entrepreneur, candle maker, nature lover, crystal enthusiast. I am most known for my chakra and intention candle collections. My candles are Eco-friendly, non-toxic, hand-poured, fragrant, soy wax candles infused with crystal energy. What sets my products apart from everyone is me and the energy that I put into my products and brand. I am most proud to have my products being sold in small businesses across the nation and Caribbean!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am born and raised in Tampa, Fl. Although I’ve traveled to many places (including Ethiopia, Nepal, Cuba, and more), I’ve always lived in the Tampa Bay Area. My ancestors contributed to the area for many years, and I am proud to be a product of their hard work.
