Daily Inspiration: Meet Cheri Dunbar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheri Dunbar.

Hi Cheri, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I used to fight alligators, but now I’m an artist! Joke!
I am a creative entrepreneur with a passion for bringing new life to old furniture. After leaving the corporate world to focus on raising my children, I discovered my love for faux painting, and furniture restoration. Teaching myself the craft, I turned it into a successful business, Almost Forgotten Furniture and more, located in Dunedin Florida. My work is inspired by a love for vibrant colors and unique designs, and I always strive to create pieces that bring joy and personality to any space.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I really have not faced struggles as a female entrepreneur because the Furniture and art industry is not Mail dominated. Women have always supported and helped me succeed and I try to do the same.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been painting for over 30 years and discovered my passion for transforming forgotten pieces about six years ago with chalk paint, decoupage, and artistic finishes. I specialize in one of a kind furniture, custom design, and dopamine decor that brings joy and personality into your home. Beyond furniture I also reimagine clothing, shoes, and decor blending art with everyday living. What sets me apart is my storytelling approach, every piece has a history and a new life, along with my bright and detailed style and strong connection to the Dunedin community. I am most proud of giving new purpose to old treasures and creating pieces that can’t be found anywhere else.
