Today we’d like to introduce you to Trinity Telmanov.
Hi Trinity, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Trinity! When I was in middle school I wanted to post cute pictures like all the other girls in my grade, so for Christmas I asked my mom for either an iPhone, or a professional camera. As protective as she is, she decided to get me a camera! Taking photos quickly became my new hobby, so I joined the yearbook class in 7th grade. I learned the basics of photography and became a head editor for the school! In high school I decided to give video a try, so I chose the news class as one of my electives! It was here where my favorite teacher ever made me fall in love with video, and choose what I thought my forever job would be. I decided I wanted to go to college and become a video editor! Graduating high school in 2021, covid changed my plans completely. I hated learning in front of a computer, and unsure of the future I didn’t want to spend 4 years stuck behind a screen barely retaining any information. So I decided to skip out on college, and pursue photography again. I got a job at subway to save up for a new camera, while doing as many free photoshoots as I could with my middle school gear. I was so committed that I quickly retained a lot of clients who still use me to this day! My business kept growing and growing, I was constantly shooting which made me super happy. A friend from high school asked me to shoot her wedding, and for my first I did a surprisingly great job! I’m still so proud of the photos! It was only up from there, and I very quickly decided to niche down to specializing in couples! Whether it’s a wedding, proposal, anniversary, or just a plain old couple shoot, im always somewhere capturing love.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
All parts of wedding photography is full of challenges. Learning camera settings, how to edit, figuring out how you’re going to pay for all these software sites. There are two big challenges that will always stick with me and that I’ve learned greatly from. The first was a wedding I photographed where the father of the groom was a little intoxicated and did not like that we were doing family photos outside. My BIGGEST priority is always what the bride and groom want, and they were adamant on taking family photos in a specific spot. The father of the groom went ballistic, screaming at me and calling me unprofessional. I kept calm, and asked the bride and groom what they want to do. They wanted to keep everyone happy, so they decided to move inside. Later in the night the father apologized to me and gave me a tip. My contract says that if I’m being harassed at an event I have the ability to leave, but in this situation I didn’t want to let the couple down as it was a minor inconvenience. It taught me patience, and I carry that with me on all wedding days. The 2nd challenge and biggest one I’ve faced was dealing with a fake client. They booked me for their wedding, and scammed me and I lost a lot of money early on in my career. From that day on, I changed my entire booking process. I don’t book without having a video chat and getting to know my clients, I require a signed contract from all clients, and lastly a deposit with only digital payment. As terrible as it was, that scammer helped me up the professionalism in all my future shoots.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in all things couple photography! I call myself a wedding pro because I know the ins and outs of everything to do with matrimony! I’m known for my warm, light, and airy but true to color editing style. My work is very modern, and unique for each couple. One characteristic my clients love about me is how I pose! I never leave them feeling awkward, they always know exactly what to do with their hands and all other body parts haha! I pose with a mix of candid and editorial, and I always make my clients Pinterest board come to life. My booking process is also very straight forward and streamlined. I’m always available to communicate and answer any and every question before a photoshoot! What sets me apart from other photographers is my modern but classic touch. I’m young so I have all of the newest gear and editing styles, but I keep it very classic so that the photos are timeless. I’m most proud of every relationship i make with my clients, we always end up best friends by the end of it!
What matters most to you? Why?
In general, faith and family are the most important things to me. My husband is my 2nd photographer on wedding days and he’s the love of my life! We love to find that same joy in every couple we meet, and capture their love story the way we would want ours to be captured! That’s why I always put the client FIRST! Above myself, above my business, their happiness is what matters most.
