Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Grubbs.
Hi Todd, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been playing guitar since I was very young, early on I played in local rock bands but I always had a desire to teach. I spent a year in HCC’s music program in Ybor City, I then studied composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
In 1989, I moved back to Tampa and taught guitar at Thoroughbred Music as well as releasing several instrumental guitar albums that received national and international exposure. In 2000, I decided to open up my music school in Brandon and have been enjoying working with people of all ages, offering guitar of course but also piano, drums, violin, cello, mandolin, banjo, and ukulele.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have been pretty lucky to have a consistent roster of students, I have also had the benefit of the services of some great teachers like Ryan Tatum, Mark Prator, Nick Lauro, and Zach Winfree.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I am a composer and I have released over 10 albums of varying styles. I have a deep understanding of music and love of teaching.
I love autobiographies mainly by musicians.
