Today we’d like to introduce you to Tam Jones.
Tam, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started photography back in high school as a hobby, but I really found my passion as an adult. I was working in the legal field for a couple of years when I had my son in August of 2023. I wanted to be home with him, but still be able to provide financially. I picked up photography again from there, and easily saw how much I loved it and wanted to make it my career. I love, love. Being able to see it every day and make so many people feel beautiful, is truly why I love my job.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road—but it’s been meaningful every step of the way. Building my photography business has been incredibly rewarding, but also one of the hardest things I’ve ever done—especially as a working mom. I work full-time during the day, run my photography business during evenings and weekends, and I’m also raising a two-year-old son while my husband travels frequently for work. So, the word “juggle” doesn’t even begin to cover it!
There have been seasons of exhaustion, moments of doubt, and times where I’ve questioned whether I could really do it all. Balancing my responsibilities as a mother, wife, professional, and creative has taken a lot of late nights, careful planning, and grace—especially for myself.
One of the biggest challenges has been finding time to grow the business without sacrificing quality time with my family. But I’ve learned to be intentional, to set boundaries, and to lean on a strong support system when I need it. And through it all, photography has remained this beautiful creative outlet that fuels me. It’s what keeps me grounded and inspired, even on the toughest days.
Looking back, the struggles have shaped my business in a way that makes it deeply personal. I don’t take a single client, session, or milestone for granted—because I know what it takes to show up and make it happen.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a central florida portriat and wedding photographer, and Owner of TamJonesPhotoCo. TamJonesPhoto Co – Where true color meets true connection ” Photography in a digital world” – What does that mean to me? In an age full of screens, scrolls and constant notifications what photography offers is something rare. Presence. Just use for a moment you pause. Just exist in the moment with the people who matter most. A photoshoot becomes a moment in real time. Away from the noise away from the rush. Laugh together and be reminded of what really matters. My goal with my photography is that you can leave a photoshoot with more than just a digital gallery. You leave with new memories to cherish too. My hopes are that you have the willingness to be present. More now, than ever before.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that growth doesn’t have to look like constant hustle—it can happen in the quiet, in the balance, and even in the chaos. For a long time, I believed I had to do everything perfectly and be everywhere all at once to be successful. But I’ve learned that giving myself grace, setting boundaries, and trusting the pace of my journey has made all the difference.
As a full-time working mom with a toddler and a husband who travels often, my time is incredibly limited. But instead of seeing that as a limitation, I’ve learned to use it as motivation to be more intentional—with my time, my energy, and the clients I serve. It’s taught me to focus on quality over quantity, and to build a business that aligns with my life—not one that runs me into the ground.
This lesson has helped me show up more fully—not just as a photographer, but as a mom, wife, and woman. It’s reminded me that success isn’t just about growth in numbers—it’s about growth in purpose, fulfillment, and the impact I’m able to make through my work.
