Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Maturo.
Hi Nichole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story truly began as a child. As far back as I can remember I’ve always loved using a camera. Growing up in the 90s when film was big, I loved snapping pictures with our families film camera. I loved to pick up an album and flip through pictures from time to time just for fun. It was always exciting to me to see new prints I’d never seen before. As years went on and digital became increasingly popular I continued capturing life’s moment with the families ever changing cameras. When I got to high school I started taking photography classes online and in school when I could. Around this time I started to offer my services to friends and family. I found that I enjoyed capturing life’s exciting moments, and people. I gained the majority of my experience in this time with couples. We captured and celebrated engagements, maternity, and just being in love. I continued photographing part time while I continued school and eventually went on to work full time jobs. In late 2025 I made a choice. This was a choice to show myself the love and care that I had undervalued for so many years. This meant taking care of myself physically and mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I no longer aligned with the corporate world and working for others. Work-life balance became the utmost importance to me and building a sustainable future. So with that I left the corporate world and in February of 2026 I dedicated my future as a full time photographer. I have loved every moment of it including all of the difficult times. I’m living through a dream I had so long ago, letting my creative freedom run wild, and building relationships in a place I love to be in. It’s the happiest I’ve ever been in my career.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly not. As we all know in life, there will always be ups and downs. But it’s the moments of fear, hesitation, struggles, and tough lessons that build us up to be better than before. Anytime you start a new business venture you have to earn the trust of others, craft a strong portfolio, design marketing materials and so much more. Really committing to this and perfecting every small and fine detail to show the world who I am and what my style is took a lot of time. A lot of late nights, and long days in the office. Times where I had to choose business over pleasure and commit financially to building something I believe in. Every second has without a doubt been worth what I had to give up and push through to build this amazing business I have.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a wedding & lifestyle photographer. I specialize in photographing moments from others lives that are sentimental and memorable. This ranges from capturing a couple when they’re in love, to their engagements, weddings, pregnancy announcements, through expanding families and more. I already deeply value photography as a whole and for the stories and emotions it tells. Being able to capture someone else’s life as it evolves is everything I could ask for. The sentiment there is unmatched. I think how meaningful it is to me, and how I aim to preserve that for the people I work with who are experiencing these moments more than I am is what sets me apart from others. My work is so much more than freezing frames, it’s preserving delicate moments in life to remember for a lifetime.
What makes you happy?
I find happiness in a simple world. Outside in nature is the place I find the most happiness in. Being surrounded by genuine people with big hearts and happy, meaningful moments with love, laughter, care and compassion are the root of my happiness. Oh, and dogs… definitely dogs.
