Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Norman
Hi Ali, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As an artist and printmaker, I have always loved the creative community that fills a studio! Teaching part-time at UT, I had always wanted to create my own space where people could learn and share their work with the world. Here we have a little shop where we sell handmade goods from local artists and around the country. Our studio is growing every day and will be offering printmaking and ceramics classes again in January!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Opening a business during a pandemic was not the plan! It has definitely been a wild ride, but so worth it. We hope to provide a safe, creative outlet for people after this crazy year of 2020.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in copper etching and other printmaking techniques. I etch and print copper plates and love to restore printing presses! Teaching etching is a total joy for me.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Community! This is meant to be a place where people can be together and create, regardless of skill level or talent. It’s about expressing ourselves and being together!
