Today we’d like to introduce you to Yisel Acosta.
Hi Yisel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I immigrated to the United States from Cuba with my parents in 1997 when I was eight years old. Growing up, I learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and creating opportunities. After studying business, my husband and I built our own air conditioning company, which we’ve successfully operated for the past six years. My passion for travel, combined with my experience creating lifestyle and travel content on social media, inspired me to launch Wanderlux Vacations about a year and a half ago. Today, I proudly run both businesses while helping clients create unforgettable travel experiences centered around luxury, adventure, and meaningful memories. Above all, my greatest inspiration is my family—my husband and our four children—who motivate me every day to pursue my entrepreneurial dreams.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, we’ve faced setbacks that could have easily made us give up. Early in our marriage, we bought our first home, but within just a few weeks it was broken into twice. Everything of value was stolen, and we no longer felt safe, so we made the difficult decision to leave the home almost immediately.
At the time, we were also struggling with the high cost of living in Miami, despite both of us working hard. We took a leap of faith and moved to Cape Coral to start over. While things were more affordable, money was still tight, so my husband and I did whatever it took to create opportunities. We bought tractor-trailer loads of merchandise and resold items from our garage to earn extra income while working toward our bigger goals.
Eventually, we started our air conditioning company with a single van that cost about $16,000—a huge investment for us at the time. We reinvested every dollar we could back into the business, and through consistency, hard work, and faith, we’ve been able to grow, doubling our revenue year after year.
That same entrepreneurial mindset led me to launch Wanderlux Vacations. What began as a passion for travel has grown into a thriving business. Last year, the agency reached six figures in annual sales, and within just a year and a half, we experienced a day where we generated six figures in sales in a single day.
Looking back, every obstacle taught us resilience. Those difficult moments shaped the entrepreneurs we are today and remind us that success isn’t about avoiding challenges—it’s about continuing to move forward despite them.

While I proudly co-own Cool King Air with my husband, Wanderlux Vacations is truly where my passion comes to life. Travel has given me some of the most meaningful experiences of my life, and I wanted to create a business that helps others experience those same moments with the people they love.
As a travel advisor and content creator, many people know me as “the travel queen” because I’m constantly exploring new destinations, luxury resorts, cruises, and hidden gems. I don’t just sell vacations—I experience them firsthand so I can confidently recommend the best destinations and create personalized itineraries that fit each client’s dreams and budget.
What sets Wanderlux Vacations apart is that we’re a family-owned and family-operated business built on relationships. Our children are involved, and every client is treated like an extension of our family. We believe planning a vacation should feel exciting, personal, and stress-free. Whether it’s a honeymoon, a family getaway, a luxury escape, or the trip someone has dreamed about for years, we take the time to understand what’s important to them because those memories are priceless.
That same philosophy has been the foundation of Cool King Air. Over the years, we’ve built a community of more than 500 loyal customers who don’t feel like customers at all—they feel like family. What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to trust yourself, trust your instincts, and never give up on something you truly believe in. I’ve always been a very optimistic and determined person. Once I set my mind on a goal, I commit to it completely and keep moving forward, even when the road isn’t easy.
There have been plenty of moments when it would have been easier to quit, but I’ve learned that success often comes right after the point where most people give up. Sometimes all it takes is one opportunity, one decision, or one breakthrough that can completely change your life. If you stop too soon, you’ll never know how close you were.
I also believe in the power of taking action. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. You learn, adapt, and grow along the way. That mindset has helped me build two successful businesses while raising a family, and it’s something I try to share with others every chance I get.
As an immigrant, I’m especially grateful for the opportunities I’ve had in this country. My journey has reinforced my belief that with hard work, resilience, and a willingness to keep learning, it’s possible to build the life you dream of.
