Community Highlights: Meet Tiffany Skinner of Enhanced Hair Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Skinner.

Hi Tiffany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always knew from the time I was a little girl that i wanted to be a hairstylist. Life took me on a different path, though. I became a mom at a young age, and right after high school I went straight into the workforce to support my child. Later, I married, and while I dreamed of going to cosmetology school, I was told I’d never make any money doing hair. I pursued a career in the medical field, where I spent 8 years climbing the ladder. While I found some success, I never felt fulfilled.

After a divorce and later remarrying, I decided to finally follow my dream. At 29 years old, I enrolled in hair school. Just before finishing COVID hit, and I had to step away to help support my family. I went back to corporate work, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was meant for more. Sitting at my cubicle one day, I realized I didn’t want someone else determining my schedule, my income, or whether I could be there for my kids. I had 6 weeks left of school, so I took the leap, went back, and finally finished.

From there, things took off quickly. I built a full clientele, invested in advanced extension education, and became known as an extension specialist. Soon, other stylist began asking me for help and training. I started out in a small studio, but I knew I needed to create something bigger – not just for myself, but for others.

That vision led me to open my own salon. Our first space was small and had its share of challenges, but it gave me the chance to build a team. Now we’re in a beautiful 2,000 sq ft. space with multiple chairs and suites. More importantly, we’ve built a space where beauty professionals can grow. My mission is to provide systems, mentorship, and real support so that new stylist aren’t set up for failure straight out of school. I want them to be able to throw themselves fully into their careers, get paid while learning, and have the guidance they truly need to succeed in this industry.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. For a long time, people told me that going to hair school would be a waste of time and that I would never make any money. While I was in school, I was waitressing and bartending to just keep everything afloat. When I went back to finish school, my days started early, getting all the kids off to school, then heading to school myself, picking them up, cooking dinner, doing laundry, packing lunches, some nights I was even doing hair in my kitchen with me working on a client at one end of the table, while helping my kids with their homework at the other.

After a failed partnership, I thought the only way to be successful was to focus solely on myself. But through all of it, I knew sacrifices had to be made and I refused to give up. Those struggles taught me discipline, perseverance, and the value of building something worth fighting for.

As you know, we’re big fans of Enhanced Hair Company. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My Company is Enhanced Hair Company; a salon built from the ground up with the vision of raising the standard for both clients and stylist. We specialize in luxury extensions, blonding, and all colors, but at our core, we’re about creating confidence, giving clients results that not only look beautiful but also feel effortless and natural in their everyday lives.

What sets us apart is that we’re more than just a salon. We’re building a system where stylist can truly thrive. I wanted to create the kind of environment I wish existed when I started, a place new stylist could get real training, earn an income, and have guidance without the pressure of working two jobs just to make it. That mentorship, combined with high-end services, is what makes our brand unique.

I’m most proud of the fact that Enhanced Hair Co. is challenging the old stigma around hair stylist and salons. We’re showing that this industry isn’t just about “doing hair”. It’s a career that can provide freedom, fulfillment, and financial success.

For clients, our services go beyond the chair. We offer extensions, color, nails, brows, makeup, and spray tans, but they aren’t just your normal services, we offer an experience where every detail is designed to make you feel seen, cared for, and beautiful. For stylist, our brand represents opportunity, mentorship, and community.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
When it comes to finding a mentor, I always suggest looking for someone in your local area who truly inspires you. Reach out and ask if you can shadow them for a day or two. Come prepared with questions and be willing to listen and learn. Most people are open to sharing than you might expect.

Networking is just as important. For me, social media has been my biggest tool. Learning how to use it well has opened so many doors, connected me with other business owners, and help me grow opportunities I would not have had otherwise. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, sometimes it really is who you know that helps you get to the next level.

It’s also important to realize that mentorship is an investment in yourself. A true mentorship may come with a price tag, and that’s okay, because you’re not just paying for someone’s time, you’re investing in their knowledge, accountability, and guidance. The right mentor will not only teach you but will also challenge you and hold you accountable to your goals. Not every opportunity will be free, and not every mentor will be the right fit, but if you do your research and trust your gut, you’ll find the person who can help you grow in the way you need.
