Today we’d like to introduce you to Marqus Johnson.
Hi Marqus , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Meet Marqus Johnson of Wheelchair & Stretcher Transportation Services
Marqus Johnson is the founder of Wheelchair & Stretcher Transportation Services, a Tampa, Florida–based medical transportation company focused on reliable, patient-centered wheelchair and stretcher transport.
A PMP-certified project manager, healthcare provider, and father of two—Devion and Taylor Johnson—Marqus began his career designing and launching medical transportation and healthcare systems at scale. Over the years, he has led client improvement programs that generated millions in revenue, consulted with major health plans, and helped streamline healthcare operations that saved organizations millions in costs.
While working at the systems level, Marqus noticed a consistent breakdown in one critical area: medical transportation. Missed pickups, poor communication, and lack of compassion were common—often during hospital discharges, hospice transitions, or post-acute care. That gap inspired him to build a better solution.
Wheelchair & Stretcher Transportation Services was created to bring structure, accountability, and empathy into non-emergency medical transportation. Drawing on his background in healthcare operations, SEO, and Google Business Profile optimization, Marqus built a company that is both operationally efficient and easy for families and facilities to find and trust when timing matters most.
Today, the company is known across Tampa for dependable door-to-door medical transport, clear communication, and respectful care. Outside of work, Marqus mentors professionals in healthcare and operations and enjoys spending time with his children, in nature, and exploring the arts.
At its core, the business exists to ensure patients are never treated like an afterthought during vulnerable moments of care.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Medical transportation sits at the intersection of healthcare, logistics, and human emotion—and each comes with its own challenges.
One of the biggest struggles early on was trust. Families are often reaching out during stressful moments—hospital discharges, hospice transitions, post-surgical care—and they’ve often been let down before. Earning trust meant being consistent, transparent, and willing to over-communicate, even when it slowed operations.
Another challenge was building reliable systems with limited margin for error. In medical transport, being “almost on time” isn’t good enough. Missed pickups or miscommunication can disrupt care plans, delay procedures, or create real distress for patients and families. Designing dispatch, scheduling, and follow-up systems that work under pressure took time and constant refinement.
Staffing and training were also learning curves. Technical driving skills matter, but empathy, patience, and professionalism matter just as much. Finding people who understand both sides took intentional effort.
Finally, growing without relying on large ad budgets forced creativity. Learning to leverage local SEO and Google Business Profile optimization became essential for visibility and sustainability.
Each challenge sharpened the business. The obstacles didn’t slow the mission—they clarified it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wheelchair & Stretcher Transportation Services in Tampa, Florida | Reliable Medical Transport?

What does success mean to you?
Success is progress with purpose.
It’s not just what you achieve, but who you become in the process.
Success means living in alignment with your values—knowing that your work creates real impact, your growth is intentional, and your standards keep rising. It’s the ability to consistently move forward while expanding your capacity to give, lead, and serve at a higher level.
Success is measured by:
• The quality of your decisions
• The strength of your mindset under pressure
• The depth of contribution you make to others
• And the freedom you create—time, financial, emotional, and spiritual
True success isn’t a destination. It’s a state of continual improvement, where you’re stretching beyond who you were yesterday, using your skills to solve meaningful problems, and building something that matters beyond yourself.
When progress, purpose, and contribution align—that’s success.
