Hi Lauren & Candice, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are blessed to be not only business partners and best friends but also sisters! Our parents were the first ones to introduce us to these concepts of personal development and leadership at a young age by making an effort to immerse us in a positive, dream-building atmosphere that had us listening to positive self-talk tapes on the way to ballet class.
We grew up tagging along to the business conferences our parents were attending, and we would often sit in the back row taking notes. These early experiences gave us a wonderful foundation that continues to inspire the dreams and goals that we are pursuing today.
We attended an international leadership training program where we got to study under successful mentors and continue practicing our skills with other young people from across the globe. Following eight years of training, we ended up joining the staff, teaching young adults from all over the world about leadership, goal setting, and team building. After earning our degrees in business and communications, this passion led us to earn our Master’s Degrees in Executive Leadership and later become university professors of leadership.
In all of our studies in this field, we found that a younger voice with an educated perspective was missing. Aside from the leadership program, in every other setting we found ourselves studying these topics, we were surrounded by people who were significantly older. It became clear that the majority of our peers were not learning these same skills and concepts, and we could see the difference it was making in our decisions and lifestyles.
Most of what was available on these topics was for an older demographic or a strictly corporate audience, so we wanted to create something for young leaders, created by young leaders and would help them succeed in all areas of life, not just in their careers. We believe that the next generation of leaders aged 20-40 need to be equipped in these areas, particularly at this time in their lives where they are increasing in influence and making many pivotal decisions that have long-lasting effects.
After experiencing this need firsthand and getting this same question from our university students, we decided to pursue our entrepreneurial desires with this passion. Through our company, Aretios, our mission is to inspire, equip, and empower the next generation of leaders to live lives of purpose, influence, and adventure.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the things that we have experienced is that there are several avenues through which we can use our skills to add value to others and many potential paths to accomplishing our goals.
This has impressed upon us the significance of clearly defining our vision and working to stay true to the direction that is most aligned with our mission, passions, and strengths. Sometimes, this means saying “no” to good things so that you can say “yes” to the right things.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Family is really important to us, and some of our favorite memories from over the years are our travels together.
Traveling and experiencing new places and different cultures is an excellent way to broaden your perspective, and it has been a valuable teacher in our lives for many years. Something we’ve come to appreciate in our travels is the unexpected adventures that turn into treasured memories, like hidden gem restaurants, new friends, unplanned hikes with magnificent views, spontaneous swims, surprise concerts, and impromptu train rides.
We love good adventures and always find them to be brimming with valuable life lessons.
