I started my professional journey in corporate accounting after graduating from Florida A&M University with my accounting degree. I was on a traditional, structured career path, but I always had a natural love for beauty. Makeup became the outlet that balanced the structure of accounting, giving me the freedom to create, express, and connect in a way corporate life never could.
As my passion grew, I began taking clients on the side, practicing, studying, and perfecting my craft. A major turning point in my career was the opportunity to train alongside renowned bridal artist Milan of IDBM Artistry. Learning from one of the best elevated my artistry, sharpened my technique, and gave me the confidence to step into my gifts fully.
That experience pushed me to take Nvious Faces seriously — not just as a hobby, but as a real brand with purpose. What started as side work eventually evolved into a consistent clientele and a reputation for quality, professionalism, and flawless, long-lasting artistry.
Today, Nvious Faces is a trusted beauty brand in Tampa. I’ve built a strong, referral-driven client base and created a luxury yet approachable experience for every woman who sits in my chair. I’m proud of how far I’ve come — from corporate accountant to trained makeup artist and business owner — and I’m even more excited for where Nvious Faces is headed next.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey definitely hasn’t been smooth, but every challenge has shaped me into a stronger artist and business owner. One of the biggest obstacles was transitioning from being a full-time employee to stepping out as a full-time entrepreneur. Going from a guaranteed paycheck to building my income client by client was a major mindset shift. I had to learn how to trust myself, stay disciplined, and keep showing up even when the path felt uncertain.
Another challenge was mastering the business side of beauty. It’s one thing to be talented; it’s another to run a full operation — from marketing and pricing to branding, policies, and client experience. I had to learn how to value my time, structure my services, and put systems in place so the business could grow sustainably.
I also faced the pressure of building credibility in an industry where clients have countless options. Consistency, professionalism, and investing in advanced training — including my experience learning from Milan of IDBM Artistry — helped me elevate my artistry and stand out.
Through every challenge, I learned resilience, patience, and confidence. The road hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it. Each obstacle pushed me to level up and evolve Nvious Faces into the brand it is today.
