Berk Boyacioglu

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi Readers!

My name is Berk, and I’m a 28-year-old entrepreneur, Amazon seller, and Amazon consultant. I’m originally from Turkey—a country uniquely positioned between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. I spent my early 20s there, including my high school and university years. I come from an ordinary, humble family, and I have one sibling. As the oldest child, I always felt a strong sense of responsibility to improve our family’s standard of living. This drive led me to pursue a degree in Economics at Ege University in Turkey, where I had an enriching experience.

At 18, I left home to move to another city for university. It was my first step into independence, and I had to learn how to navigate life on my own. This experience taught me invaluable lessons about resilience and self-reliance. During my studies, I was fortunate to be sent to Germany as an exchange student through a state-funded program. I spent a year at the University of Passau, in a charming city called Passau. Imagine being in your early 20s, living in Europe for a year, and realizing just how small the world truly is. That year was transformative—I traveled across Europe, improved my English, and solidified my belief that if I were to achieve anything in life, it would have to be through my own efforts.

After completing my bachelor’s degree, I was faced with the inevitable question: “What’s next?” Turkey’s economic challenges—such as high inflation, unemployment, and corruption—made it difficult for fresh graduates to find opportunities. However, I had already adopted a “self-made” mentality, so I wasn’t deterred by the country’s conditions. I knew I didn’t want to settle for a typical 9-to-5 job in my comfort zone. I went through several interviews during this period of uncertainty, but none of them worked out—and in hindsight, I’m so glad they didn’t!

Eventually, I came across an opportunity to move to Canada, and I seized it. After my visa was approved, I landed in Toronto in March 2021, right after the pandemic. I enrolled in a private college while working multiple jobs to save up for my public college tuition. Since my university days, I had been selling products on online marketplaces like Amazon. While it was a small-scale operation at the time, it gave me the flexibility to manage my time. However, it wasn’t enough to cover my college expenses in Canada. In 2023, I graduated from Seneca College with a diploma in Digital Marketing. Shortly after, I was hired as a Digital Marketing Coordinator at a small company. That first job was a massive learning experience, and I knew I would leverage those lessons when I eventually started my own business.

While working at that company, I continued selling on Amazon on a small scale. Deep down, I felt I was meant to build something bigger and better. But the idea of leaving a stable job to pursue my dream was daunting. Imagine working hard to land a decent job in a new country, only to consider quitting it all for an uncertain path. It felt crazy—but that’s exactly what I did! I knew that if I didn’t take the leap, I would always wonder, “What if?”

In December 2023, my aunt and cousins invited me to Tampa, Florida, for Christmas. It was my first time in the U.S., and as soon as I stepped out of the airport, I was struck by the amazing weather—so much better than Ontario’s! I visited Tampa twice more before deciding to move there and establish my business. The location was perfect for connecting with suppliers and brands.

Today, I am proud to say that I am an entrepreneur running a successful business. My company operates on a brand-direct wholesale model on Amazon.

The hustle I started during my university days has now made me a 7-figure Amazon seller and consultant. The journey has been full of ups and downs, but I’ve always believed in rolling the dice until I got the result I wanted. Discipline, not motivation, is what drives success. Even when the outcomes weren’t immediate, I showed up every day for my business. I reached out to brands, faced countless rejections, and kept going because I knew it was all part of the process.

Selling on Amazon has truly changed my life, and I hope everyone finds success in the field they’re passionate about. Remember, the road may be risky and uncertain, but the rewards are worth it if you stay disciplined and committed to your vision.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh no, it was far from easy! I quickly realized that I had to rely entirely on myself—no one was coming to help, and I had to figure things out on my own.

When I first arrived in Canada, my very first job was as an Uber driver. I started by walking, then upgraded to a scooter, then an e-bike, and eventually, I was able to afford a car.

I still remember it like it was yesterday. During my time in Toronto, the weather was brutal—minus 20 degrees in the middle of a harsh winter. The streets were empty, and no one dared to go outside. But there was someone riding a bicycle on snowy sidewalks, trying to deliver orders. Guess who that guy was? 🙂 Yes, it was me!

My circumstances were never easy, but those tough times shaped me into a stronger, more resilient person. They taught me the value of perseverance and mental toughness.

Thanks to my Uber job, I was able to pay my college tuition and successfully graduate with a 3.9 GPA. It wasn’t just a job—it was a stepping stone that allowed me to build a foundation for my future.

The seeds of my online Amazon business were planted during those challenging times. Looking back, I have immense gratitude for those experiences. Without them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Those struggles were the catalyst for my growth, and they paved the way for the success I’ve achieved.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Essentially, we partner with brands to become their authorized resellers on Amazon and other marketplaces. Our role is to help these brands increase their visibility and brand awareness on Amazon. In return, they provide us with products at exclusive prices, allowing us to profit from the margins. It’s a win-win for both sides. Selling on Amazon is incredibly flexible—it’s an online business that offers autonomy in terms of time and location, making it an attractive option for entrepreneurs.

Our company, B.B. Digital & Amazon, is not just a wholesale business but also a consulting firm that teaches others how to sell on Amazon successfully. We currently work with over 20 brands, including local Tampa businesses and global brands, helping them thrive in the competitive e-commerce space.

Amazon is the largest marketplace in the world, and if you position yourself correctly, you can tap into the massive demand for products. As of 2024, Amazon Prime boasts over 200 million subscribers worldwide, with an estimated 180 million in the United States alone. This single statistic highlights the incredible potential for success on Amazon.

However, selling on Amazon can be tricky if your business model isn’t built on a solid foundation. Many new sellers start with models like dropshipping or online and retail arbitrage, which involve sourcing products from cheaper suppliers and reselling them at higher prices on Amazon without brand or trademark approval. While these methods can generate short-term profits, they come with significant risks. Accounts relying on these models often face suspension or deactivation due to policy violations.

A high percentage of new Amazon sellers fail because they don’t follow Amazon’s policies or establish a sustainable business model. That’s where we come in. At B.B. Digital & Amazon, we ensure our students take the right steps to build a compliant and profitable Amazon business. By following Amazon’s guidelines for reselling, our students can create long-term success. Selling on Amazon is highly profitable—as long as you have the right guidance and strategy.

In addition to selling on Amazon and teaching our clients how to do the same, we also help them secure agreements with brands to become authorized dealers for reselling on online platforms. Our services include an online course curriculum that provides step-by-step guidance, as well as personalized support for negotiating with brands. Since these transactions often require a U.S.-based company or LLC, we also assist our clients in setting up and managing their businesses in the U.S. We guide them through obtaining resale certificates and sales tax permits, which are essential for running a compliant and efficient business.

Our versatile approach to Amazon sets us apart from others in the industry. By focusing on sustainable, policy-compliant strategies, we ensure our students achieve solid, measurable results. Whether it’s building their Amazon business, securing brand partnerships, or navigating the complexities of U.S. business operations, we provide the tools and support they need to succeed.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Online shopping experienced massive growth after the pandemic, and it continues to evolve with advancements in AI. Amazon has been a pioneer in this space, not only as the largest e-commerce platform but also as one of the leading cloud software and AI companies in the U.S., driven by increasing demand.

This growth makes Amazon more appealing than ever, but it also intensifies competition among sellers. As a result, Amazon’s policies are becoming increasingly strict. Sellers who engage in dropshipping or arbitrage without proper brand approval are at high risk of having their accounts suspended, as is already happening today.

Looking ahead, only authorized sellers who comply with Amazon’s policies will be able to build profitable and sustainable businesses on the platform. The future of selling on Amazon will belong to those who establish legitimate partnerships with brands and operate within the platform’s guidelines.
