Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Alexander.
Hi Angel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Angel Alexander, and I’m the founder of Unplugged Connect, a movement dedicated to helping families, marriages and individuals build stronger, healthier relationships through authentic conversations.
Unplugged Connect was born out of my own journey to reconnect with my teenage son during a challenging time. My son was dealing with manic depression and suicidal ideation. I decided to start doing mid and Friday check-ins where he was able to express himself in a space that was considered a no-judgement zone. What began as simple questions to bridge our conversations has now grown into a card game and tools designed to bring families, friends, and communities closer together without the distractions of technology.
I created Unplugged Connect out of my own struggle to stay close after moving to a new state, which strained my bond with my teenager, and all while losing a dear friendship to distance and change.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. the road has definitely had its bumps, but each challenge helped shape Unplugged Connect into what it is today.
In the beginning, one of the biggest struggles was getting people to understand the heart behind what we do. Unplugged Connect isn’t just about selling journals or creating card games: it’s about building safe spaces for families, singles, and communities to reconnect without distractions. That kind of mission takes time, vulnerability, and consistency.
Along the way, each member of our team brought something powerful to help overcome those challenges. Key Robinson, with her background as a therapist, has been instrumental in guiding how we shape our questions and conversations. Her insight ensures our tools don’t just start surface-level talk they spark healing, thought-provoking, and emotionally honest dialogue.
Morghan Hayes, with her creative vision, brings that same energy to the visuals and design. She has a gift for making people feel seen through art and branding turning deep connection into something that also feels fun, fresh, and visually inspiring.
Of course, it hasn’t always been easy. We’ve faced personal, financial, and emotional challenges balancing purpose, and entrepreneurship. There were moments of doubt and lessons in patience, but every obstacle pushed us closer to the vision.
Unplugged Connect is built on resilience, collaboration, and faith and through every hard moment, we’ve learned that connection starts with courage.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Unplugged Connect was created to help people slow down, reconnect, and heal mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We design tools, workshops, and experiences that spark meaningful conversations and promote whole-person wellness.
What started with journals and card decks designed to rebuild communication between families, singles, and parents has grown into a full movement of transformational healing. We’re now bringing therapists directly into our communities through workshops and retreats that create safe spaces for people to process, reflect, and grow.
What truly sets Unplugged Connect apart is the way we combine therapy, creativity, and faith.
• Keyy Robinson, our therapist, helps shape thought-provoking prompts and healing-centered workshops that go beyond surface-level conversation guiding people toward genuine emotional breakthrough.
• Morghan Hayes uses her creative vision to attract and engage people visually, ensuring that every product and experience feels inspiring, relatable, and deeply intentional.
• And I, Angel, focus on merging faith, family restoration, and wellness creating journals, cards, and books that inspire whole-person growth and connection.
Unplugged Connect was born from my own personal pain and transformation. I used my experiences as fuel for purpose, creating tools that help others find healing, rediscover faith, and build stronger relationships.
We’re most proud that Unplugged Connect isn’t just a brand; it’s a movement of hope, healing, and connection. Every journal, card deck, workshop, and retreat is a reminder that when we slow down, unplug, and open our hearts, God can restore balance, love, and clarity from the inside out.
Data we focused on:
In 2025, loneliness is everywhere. Over 56% of people worldwide say they often feel lonely, with young adults aged 16–24 ranking as the loneliest group. In the U.S., 57% of adults report chronic loneliness, and nearly 1 in 4 young men experience severe, near-constant isolation.
For Gen Z, the numbers are staggering: 57% feel lonely, 68% say social media makes it worse, and 74% struggle to form authentic connections. Loneliness has even been labeled a public health threat, contributing to nearly 900,000 deaths a year, making it as harmful as smoking or obesity.
“What sets Unplugged Connect apart is our focus on wholeness,” says founder Angel Alexander. “We believe true connection starts with healing within ourselves, our families, and our faith.”
Brand-wise, Unplugged Connect takes pride in creating products and experiences that carry purpose. Every journal, card game, event, and program is designed with intentionality to help families pause, breathe, and reconnect with the people and values that matter most.
At its core, Unplugged Connect stands as a reminder that healing starts at home, and that the strongest families are those who take time to listen, reflect, and grow together.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First and foremost, all glory goes to my creator. None of this would be possible without His guidance, grace, and timing. Every idea, connection, and breakthrough has been a reflection of His hand over this vision.
I also give credit to my team and community, who continue to help bring Unplugged Connect to life in ways bigger than I imagined.
• Key Robinson, our therapist, deserves credit for her insight, wisdom, and ability to help us approach healing with both compassion and structure. Her perspective ensures our tools and workshops truly reach the heart.
• Morgan Hayes, our creative visionary, deserves credit for her artistry and design that make healing feel inviting, beautiful, and relatable.
• And to everyone who has shared their stories, supported our 6 months of testing, or opened up through our journals, you are the reason we keep going.
Lastly, I give credit to the journey itself; the pain, lessons, and moments that tested my faith but ultimately built my purpose. Unplugged Connect was born from healing, and it continues to thrive through love, faith, and teamwork.
