Check Out Tatiana Rugers’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Rugers.

Hi Tatiana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
One of the biggest impacts on my childhood was an art lesson where our Art teacher showed the techniques of blending several colors. It felt like magic to me. I still remember vividly that moment – we painted autumn leaves in art class. In 1993 I moved to the USA and became a citizen. Currently, I reside in Florida where I work as a full-time professional portrait and Trompe l’Oeil artist.

As an Internationally renowned artist I exhibited in France, USA, Italy, Germany, Russia, Netherlands, and Japan at International Art Salons shows. My paintings are presented in private collections as well as in public spaces in the USA, Russia, Italy, and Sweden, just to name a few.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The famous quote is “Find your passion, and it’s no longer a work”. I found it! I am very grateful to do what I do. But there is no end to improvement and personal growth as an artist. I always keep that in mind and work on every new painting so it would become my new masterpiece.

Another area of my business that needs improvement is marketing, including representation in local galleries and the Internet. But as an excuse – historically most artists are not good at marketing. So I am always looking for support in that area.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Portraits commissions, Trompe l’Oeil, and Fine art. My main goal when working on portraits is not exact photographic copy but to capture the essence of the person or subject, emotions, and beauty of the heart and spirit. That’s what separates art from a photograph. Although there are some great photographers who create incredibly talented and artistic photos.

Art is my life and my passion. My art education started in Russia and continued in the USA, Italy, and France. Yes, I have a great education which gave me classical training in Trompe l’Oeil (paintings that look like 3D), Portraits, and fine art. And all of it became a base for my true passion for creativity and art. I am grateful to receive commissions for portraits and exhibits Internationally as well as for selling my Trompe l’Oeil paintings and fine art to art collectors.

A few of my very significant recent commissions in Tampa Bay were for my portrait of Bill Shumate- FRLA member and owner of Bella’s restaurant; That portrait is displayed on the wall at Bella’s restaurant. Another – is for the portrait of Dr.Scolaro who was one of the original founding doctors of Brandon Regional Hospital. That portrait started the hall of fame of that hospital.

My Trompe l’Oeil painting of 2022 “Prayer Peace” was very significant to me.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Love and passion for arts; International training in Portraits and Trompe l’Oeil arts; Constant working on my skills; extensive traveling and visiting art museums; International exhibiting with colleagues in Art. And all together an appreciation of life, people, and beauty in everything and everyone.
