Check Out Summer Keepers’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Keepers.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up, I’ve always had the love and passion for being creative in the fashion industry. I loved learning about the patterns, fabrics, and colors that make a garment so beautiful. On the other side of it, I loved styling. Whether that was styling my friends, myself, strangers, or even models, I loved making every person feel their best and most confident just by putting on a piece of clothing. In high school, I won best dressed and followed my heart down a career path I had no idea where it would take me. I blossomed at fab’rik Augusta, where I become head stylist liaison and top seller in the state of Georgia. I knew, though, that wasn’t enough to be the best version of myself. I moved to Atlanta, where I became a Traveling Brand Sales Representative for a fashion showroom and was head of the largest line we carried. All while being a fashion blogger, growing my name and dreaming of one day owning my own store.

Fast forward 3 1/2 years later. I left a toxic engagement in Atlanta with a man who constantly set me back, met the love of my life, moved to Florida, became a top influencer in Tampa, working for Dress The Population, and being the CEO of Dear Sammy!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was never a smooth road, but I feel like nothing should be a smooth road when you’re trying to chase your dreams. I was in a very toxic six year relationship that ended in a failed engagement with a guy who told me I was never good enough. I was never going to make it. I was never going to be “something” in the fashion industry because it’s not a real career. While that was being fed in my ear for six years, I was starting to believe it and it was challenging to wake up everyday and try to purse my dreams.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the Sales Accountant Manager for Dress The Population. We are a Women’s dress company recently based in Tampa, Florida, from LA. I am overall the Dillard’s, Nordstrom’s, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Rent the Runway, and many more big-name companies that specialize in women’s fashion and dresses. I also assist with the lifestyle and e-comm photoshoots. I am also a fashion blogger in the Tampa Bay Area and a part of LIKETOKNOW.it. I am also the owner and CEO of Dear Sammy Boutique, which will be launched and open on June 11th.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Honesty and being trustworthy. Following your heart and never let anyone tell you, you can’t do it because you can. Listen carefully and be a sponge. Learn as much as you can from all sides of the industry.
