Check Out Ryan Hoppe’s Story

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Hoppe.

Ryan Hoppe

Hi Ryan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born on September 3rd, 1993, in Chicago at 3:00 PM, I was enveloped in the world of radio from the very start as my mother tuned in to 93XRT. Raised without television in the early 2000s, my primary source of news and entertainment was the radio waves, offering a formative experience during a vibrant era in Chicago radio.

Fond memories of rides home from school with the “Roe & Garry Show” featuring Roe Conn & Garry Meier, followed by the influential presence of Eddie & JoBo on B96, shaped my passion for the medium during my formative years. The middle school introduced me to a plethora of radio personalities, including “Opie & Anthony,” “The T-Man Show With Rob Tepper,” “Mancow’s Morning Madhouse,” “The Howard Stern Show,” “Jonathon Brandmeier,” and “Imus In The Morning,” solidifying my dedication to the industry.

Upon graduating high school in 2012, I embarked on my radio journey, beginning with a stint at WHCM 88.3 FM (Harper College Radio) from August 2012 to February 2013. Subsequently, I seized opportunities to intern at the Morning Show Boot Camp in Chicago in 2013 and 2014, forging invaluable connections within the radio community. Further honing my skills, I pursued formal training at the Illinois Center for Broadcasting, leading to an internship at Dance Factory Radio under the mentorship of Luis 2 Live, where I acquired essential production skills.

My breakthrough arrived with “The Hoppe & SuperRICH” show, co-hosted with Ryan “SuperRICH” Stuprich, Ryan Risky, K-Wall, and Timmer The Video Guy, airing from June 2013 to November 2014 on WNUR 89.3 FM (Northwestern University Radio). This experience provided me with a platform to showcase my talent and creativity, blending engaging talk segments with 2000s music.

In January 2015, I joined the nationally syndicated morning show “Rover’s Morning Glory” in Cleveland until March 2015, followed by a tenure at 102.5 The Bone alongside radio stalwarts like Mike “Cowhead” Calta, Drew Garabo, and Roger & JP. Notable highlights include hosting “Hoppe Hour” during “The Mike O Radio Show” and “The Mike Calta After Show” from November 2020 to August 2022. Despite the rewarding experiences, financial constraints led me to seek new opportunities.

Transitioning to roles with “Beckles & Recher” and “The Pat & Aaron Show” at 95.3 WDAE with IHeartRadio Tampa Bay from August 2022 to April 2023, I continued to thrive in the dynamic world of radio. Subsequently, I joined Beasley Media Group from April 2023 to October 2023, contributing as a member of the promotions department and backup producer for the top-rated “MJ Morning Show” on Q105 under the guidance of Todd “MJ” Schnitt.

I hold a full-time producer position at another prominent radio company in Tampa Bay while hosting the acclaimed “Hoppe Hour” podcast, available on all major podcasting platforms under the moniker “Hoppe Radio.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Growing up, I had a very prominent stutter because of my AD/HD and Bipolar diagnosis. But I have attended many speech classes, and it’s about 92% fixed!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I take pride in several notable achievements throughout my career:

I was nominated for Best Local Podcast from 2015 to 2022, clinching victories in 2015 and 2017, which stand as a testament to the quality and resonance of my show, “Hoppe Hour.” Recognition as a Nominee for Best Up-and-Coming Tampa Bay Radio Personality spanning 2020 to 2021, acknowledging the growth and impact of my presence within the local radio scene.

The honor of being nominated for Best Radio Personality in Tampa Bay in 2022 is a validation of my dedication to the craft and connection with listeners. Moreover, I cherish the loyal following I’ve cultivated for “Hoppe Hour” and the fulfilling life I’ve constructed in 2024. Reflecting on personal loss, particularly the passing of my father and godfather to Leukemia, has instilled a profound sense of humility and perspective.

Approaching the age of 30 has further underscored the transient nature of life, prompting a shift in mindset from comparisons and ego-driven pursuits to a deeper appreciation of shared humanity. In essence, I recognize that, like my audience and colleagues on the radio, we are all mortal beings striving to make the most of each precious day.
