Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadege Colas.
Hi Nadege, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my journey with a passion for beauty and helping people feel confident in their own skin. I’ve always been fascinated by hair care and styling, so I pursued formal training and became a licensed hairstylist. In the beginning, I worked with clients one-on-one, learning not only different techniques but also how to really understand what people want and need.
Over time, I built a loyal clientele and began sharing my knowledge—first in my salon, then by teaching classes and creating educational content. Today, I’m expanding beyond just services to offer online education, guides, and resources so that more people can learn how to care for and style hair themselves. It’s been a journey of growth, passion, and dedication, and I’m excited about where it’s headed next.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I faced challenges along the way—especially in the beginning. Building a clientele took time, and there were moments when I doubted myself or felt like giving up. I had to learn how to balance creativity with business, how to manage everything from scheduling to marketing, and how to keep going even when things were slow.
There were also times when people didn’t believe in my vision, but I learned to believe in myself and trust the process. Every struggle taught me something valuable—about patience, resilience, and the importance of staying consistent. Those challenges are what shaped me into the professional I am today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a licensed hairstylist and educator who specializes in braids, natural hair care, and protective styles. I’m known for my attention to detail and for creating styles that not only look beautiful but also promote healthy hair. Over the years, I’ve built a reputation for giving each client a personal experience — listening, caring, and helping them feel confident when they leave my chair.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come — from starting small to running my own studio and now teaching others. I love showing people that with the right knowledge and technique, anyone can care for and style their hair beautifully.
What sets me apart is my passion for education. I don’t just style hair — I teach others how to do it. Whether it’s through one-on-one sessions or online classes, my goal is to empower others to grow their own skills and confidence in the beauty industry.
How do you think about luck?
I believe luck has played its part, both good and bad. There were moments when things seemed to fall into place at just the right time — meeting the right people, getting new clients through word of mouth, or having opportunities I didn’t expect. I see those as blessings more than luck.
But there were also times when things didn’t go as planned — cancellations, slow seasons, or unexpected challenges. At first, I saw those as bad luck, but later I realized they were lessons that pushed me to grow stronger, stay creative, and never give up.
So, whether good or bad, every bit of “luck” has shaped me. I’ve learned that faith, hard work, and consistency turn what feels like luck into real success.
