Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Randell.
Hi Kimberly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been drawn to art. Growing up in Queens, New York, I spent countless hours flipping through my dad’s Architectural Digest magazines, rearranging my bedroom, and dreaming up new spaces. That passion led me to earn a BFA in Interior Design from The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City and begin my career in the design industry.
After several years working in design, including a role as Manager of Visual Design for Kravet, a luxury home furnishings company, I relocated to Florida and eventually launched Kimberly Elizabeth Interiors in 2020. What started as a dream of building something of my own has grown into a thriving interior design business serving clients throughout the Tampa Bay area and beyond.
The last few years have been some of the most rewarding and challenging of my life. As a solo entrepreneur, I wear many hats—designer, project manager, marketer, bookkeeper, and everything in between. In 2025, after the loss of my husband, I became a single mother while continuing to grow my business and support my family. That experience gave me an even deeper appreciation for resilience, perseverance, and the importance of creating a home that feels like a place of comfort and connection.
Today, I work with homeowners and business owners to create spaces that are both beautiful and functional. I love helping clients envision what a space can become and bringing that vision to life. Looking back, I’m grateful that a passion I discovered as a child has evolved into a career that allows me to make a meaningful impact on the way people live, work, and experience their homes every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing motherhood with entrepreneurship. As a designer, I become deeply invested in my clients and their projects. I treat each home as if it were my own and always want to give every client my full attention. At the same time, I have two young children who are my top priority, so finding that balance has been an ongoing learning experience.
Another challenge has been navigating business ownership without a large team behind me. As a solo entrepreneur, I’m responsible for every aspect of the business—from design concepts and client meetings to project management, marketing, accounting, and everything in between. While it can be overwhelming at times, it has taught me to be resourceful, organized, and intentional with my time.
The upside is that my clients receive a very personal experience. When they work with Kimberly Elizabeth Interiors, they’re working directly with me throughout the entire process. Building a business while raising a family hasn’t always been easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding to see both grow together.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the owner and principal designer of Kimberly Elizabeth Interiors, a full-service interior design firm serving residential and select commercial clients throughout the Tampa Bay area. I work on everything from new construction homes and large-scale renovations to furnishings, space planning, and commercial projects.
One of the things I’m most known for is my use of 3D renderings as part of the design process. I love helping clients visualize their space before construction begins or purchases are made. Design can be difficult to imagine from drawings and samples alone, and 3D renderings allow clients to see the vision come to life, make informed decisions, and move forward with confidence.
While I often describe my work as timeless and functional, I don’t subscribe to a single design style. Every client is different, and I believe great design should reflect the people who live or work in the space. Whether a client prefers modern, traditional, coastal, transitional, or something entirely unique, my role is to understand their vision and apply strong design principles to create a cohesive, balanced, and highly functional environment.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Inviting someone into your home and asking them to shape the way you live is incredibly personal. I take that responsibility seriously and strive to create spaces that not only look beautiful but also improve the way my clients experience their everyday lives.
I believe what sets me apart is my combination of creativity, technical expertise, and personal involvement in every project. As a solo designer, I remain closely connected to each client and every detail from concept through implementation. My clients receive a highly personalized experience, and I genuinely care about the success of every project as if it were my own home or business.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that when you truly love what you do, you can find the strength to keep going through even the most challenging seasons of life.
Building a business comes with plenty of obstacles, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty. There have been times when balancing family, business ownership, and life’s unexpected challenges felt overwhelming. But I’ve learned that passion creates perseverance. When you genuinely care about your work and the people you serve, it gives you a reason to keep showing up, even on the difficult days.
I’ve also learned that success isn’t about having a perfect plan or never making mistakes. It’s about being willing to adapt, continue learning, and trust the process. Every challenge has taught me something valuable and helped me grow both personally and professionally.
At the end of the day, I still get excited about helping clients transform their spaces and bring their vision to life. That excitement and love for what I do is what continues to motivate me and reminds me why I started this journey in the first place.
