Check Out Keith Gambino’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Gambino.

Keith, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story starts in NY, I began martial arts with my children in 1995. We studied the art of Kempo Karate under SGM Rich Fescina. In 2000 I received my black belt. I continue to train today and I have earned the rank of 5th degree and the title of Shihan, I opened the Kombative Arts Dojo to train the next generation.
I teach system of self defense that combines the American arts of Karazepo Kempo (Hawaiian Kempo) and Kajukenbo, which is the 1st mixed martial art created in the US incorporating American boxing. Along with the Chinese White Crane kung fu and it’s Chin-Na applications and the Okinawan arts of karate, judo & jujitsu. This harmonious blend of arts is the American KaraRyuKyu Kempo and is a street proven highly effective self defense.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My path in the martial arts has been filled with accidents leaving me with reconstructed ankle deteriorating hip, torn shoulders and on the site work accident that left me with a cervical implant from C3 to C6, I had to fight back physically and mentally to achieve the ability to keep moving forward always forward!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think teaching in the old ways, traditional ohana,( family). One generation teaching the next generation. Making that connection that stands the test of time.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the vibe, the restaurants. Tampa has it’s own personality! How ever parking can be a problem in some areas
