Today we’d like to introduce you to Draven Palmer.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At the start I had the rough journey of navigating a drug addicted mom and narcissistic father. Physical abuse, neglect, it was common for me to not be in the best condition. After so much suffering I got sick of it all and left right when I turned 18. My plan is to attend college, chasing a degree in psychology for the adolescent so I can be the adult i needed for some other child. I travel around the country with the FOR3ST HILLS band to spread awareness and support in any way we can.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most of my struggles pertain to how abuse affects the mind. I don’t trust most people, I lack some emotional regulation skills, and I tend to be cynical. Being raised poor has given me little to start with. Any big project planned requires a lot more effort due to low funding.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the guitarist for the band FOR3ST HILLS. I help write the material for the music and move around our setup with the singer/songwriter Zero Surico.
Outside of that I have done a lot of word in the education field. I’ve been a one-on-one and a teachers assistant. My end goal is to be a councilor or therapist.
Any big plans?
As I see it now the plan is to move over to New York for a while. We’ve been around Florida, Las Vegas, California, and Arizona. New York won out on where we wanted to live.
I’d like to finish my bachelors and maybe even get a PHD in my field. I love what I do, like it’s not even work.
