Check Out Assunta Swier’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Assunta Swier.

Hi Assunta, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My career in cosmetology began when I was just sixteen, a high-school student enrolled in a new program called OJT—On the Job Training. I didn’t fully understand what “cosmetology” meant at the time, but I knew it involved hair, beauty, and creativity, so I jumped in with both feet.

Within a few months, one of my instructors connected me with the largest, busiest salon in our town. I went from wondering “What does an assistant even do?” to being immersed in a vibrant world of stylists, nail techs, clients, and the beautiful chaos of salon life. I completed my OJT hours inside that salon, eventually earning a full-time position. That opportunity became the foundation of a career that has now spanned nearly four decades.

From the very beginning, I discovered just how passionate I was about this industry. I built lifelong friendships, learned from incredible mentors, and found my purpose behind the chair. To this day, there is nothing more rewarding than watching a woman look in the mirror after a service—seeing her light up, stand taller, feel more beautiful in her own skin. That moment never gets old, and it’s why I still love what I do.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Over the years, there have definitely been some challenges. Primarily with my personal health that had derailed me for a few years but I quickly pivoted and was up and running again in no time.
I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease while pregnant with my first child and landed me 6 months in ICU fighting for my life.
It was the most difficult and rewarding thing I have ever experienced. It put me on my path to health and wellness that has shaped my life in so many amazing ways, and was the inspiration behind my newest project A Purpose Collective. A global movement to bring awareness to lifestyle change for longevity healing . Working with MD’s who have shifted how they treat health care.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So many things, my passion for entrepreneurship, creativity, health and wellness. In addition to my incredible family!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My ability to create longstanding relationships.
