We’re looking forward to introducing you to Wendy Butcher. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Wendy, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
For me, creating is a form of meditation. The moment I pick up a paintbrush, time seems to disappear, and I can spend hours fully immersed in the process. It’s not only a powerful stress reliever but also a meaningful way to escape and focus on bringing something beautiful to life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Wendy Butcher and my business name is WendyB Creative. I create artwork that celebrates warmth, nature, and the beauty found in everyday moments—designed to connect with people and elevate the spaces they live in. Inspired by Florida’s vibrant ecosystems and tropical landscapes, my work blends organic forms, rich palettes, and a sense of calm that translates seamlessly across a variety of products.
With a professional background in design and visual storytelling, I approach each piece with both creativity and strategy—balancing artistic vision with commercial versatility. My goal is to license artwork that not only brings joy but also enhances product collections in home décor, textiles, wall art, stationery, and beyond.
As I grow within the art licensing industry, I am eager to collaborate with brands and manufacturers who value original, thoughtful design. Whether through a single artwork or a cohesive collection, I strive to create pieces that inspire, connect, and leave a lasting impression.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Traveling has given me a broader perspective on the world and a deeper appreciation for its diversity. Immersing myself in different cultures—through food, art, architecture, landscapes, and the people I’ve met along the way—has been both inspiring and eye-opening. Each experience has expanded not only how I see the world but also how I interpret it creatively, reminding me that beauty exists in countless forms and perspectives.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Building self-confidence has been an ongoing journey for me. Growing up shy and naturally introverted, I was drawn to the creative world as a safe space to express myself. Over time, I find myself stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing new opportunities with greater confidence.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’ve always been a perfectionist, driven by a strong work ethic instilled in me growing up, led me to take many different career opportunities, always learning new things. Things may not turn out the way you want them to, but there is a lesson learned every step of the way.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
Taking chances has taught me that even the smallest moments can lead to something extraordinary. You never know how a single conversation might open the door to a new opportunity, spark a meaningful connection, or even change the direction of your life. By stepping outside of my comfort zone and being open to possibility, I’ve learned that growth often comes from the unexpected—and that every interaction holds the potential to shape our journey in ways we can’t always foresee.
