An Inspired Chat with Sherman Milton Iii

Sherman Milton Iii shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Sherman, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Typically, when I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is go in the kitchen and make my tea and then I start writing in my journal. I have a gratitude journal that I write my affirmations as well as my gratitude that morning and then I enjoy my hot tea.

After I finish that, I’ll typically start writing out my to do list and then check my email to see if anything came out overnight that I need to work on right away.

Then I shower and get ready to hit the road to start my day for whatever that may be.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I do a couple of different things. I am a local entrepreneur in the area. I am currently a broker associate at Pineywoods Realty and I’ve been in the industry for over nine years. I’m also a co-owner of Two Maids Pasco, which is a residential cleaning franchise that services all Pasco County. I currently said as the advisory board chair for the Lewis Abraham Lacoochee Boys And Girls Club. I am also a director for Habitat for Humanity Florida, and I’m currently a Director for the Florida Realtors organization.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My first ever real estate broker that I worked for when I first got into the industry. Her name was Candy Nathe and she owned Florida Heritage real estate group in downtown Dade City Florida. She taught me everything that I know about Real Estate and guide me early on. It’s because of her that I’ve been able to accomplish what I’ve accomplished so far and why I’m where I am at today.

I still remember our first conversation when ever I start working with her. She told me, “ don’t worry about the money just take care of your customer and it will come.”

She was also very big on giving back to the community and really inspired me to get involved as well as give back.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have been plenty of times where I almost gave up. In my line of work six months into getting my real estate license almost quit because times were hard and I wasn’t closing any deals. I got licensed April 2016 and I didn’t close my first deal until November 2016. I didn’t make a dollar through Real Estate during that time.

The most recent time we’re almost gave up was for my real estate brokers license, which I obtained this year. The only reason I did not give up is because I had friends that were really pushing me and riding me to finish the class take the exam. I had to take the class over 3 times.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say that I’m
Very serious when it comes to my work and I love to have a great time.

They would also say that I am very active in the community and am always giving back. I truly believe the saying of much is given much as required. They would say that I fight for my kids in Lacoochee like there’s no tomorrow and makes sure that they have all the opportunities that other kids have.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will tell others how I cared. How I believed in giving back to the community and making it better for the next group to come after me.

How I believed in making an impact and that the youth are our future and we need to guide them.
