An Inspired Chat with Luxcisen Midyette of Temple Terrace

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Luxcisen Midyette. Check out our conversation below.

Luxcisen , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day starts with rising with a grateful spirit, drinking water, cleansing, yoga and meditation for about 10-15 and finally relaxing outdoors with some tea in nature or a walk.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Luxcisen Midyette, although many know me as Chef Lexi. I am proud to be the Co-Founder of Arize Beauty & Wellness, where we operate both an apothecary and offer online classes focusing on our “Food as Medicine” programs.

At Arize, we emphasize the importance of a clean, farm-to-table approach to nutrition, which we believe can greatly enhance vitality, skin health, and overall well-being. Our meal prep programs are thoughtfully designed with healing in mind, serving as a valuable resource on your wellness journey.

Additionally, we offer a range of natural skincare products, teas, and tinctures to support your daily self-care routine. We are dedicated to being a guiding force in your pursuit of health and wellness.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful is when a friend asked me to prepare meals for her sister’s husband, who had recently been admitted to the hospital for various reasons and needed to start eating clean and healthy in order to continue living. I initially thought it would be easy; after all, I’m a chef, and I can cook and meal prep. However, it was more complex than I anticipated. He couldn’t eat anything according to his physician, and with all his ailments, it seemed impossible to create suitable meals.

I decided to make an appointment with the couple and their doctor to review his lab results. I researched foods that were appropriate for managing diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and potassium levels. Within one month of starting to prepare his meals, he was able to return to work and had reduced his medication by three prescriptions. This experience made me realize that my calling was more than just cooking for people; it was about making a real difference in their lives.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Last year I rented a suite for our Apothecary, however business was slow in the area that we had chosen, We had to close within the same year, and I felt defeated. I realized that the location we chose was not appropriate for the services we provided.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
One important truth that many people may not agree with is that we should not consume meat every day. If you’re someone who struggles to eliminate meat from your diet, I encourage you to consider alternatives such as mushrooms, legumes, and other plant-based options while moderating your meat intake. Additionally, it’s essential for everyone to increase their daily fruit intake.

I often hear the excuse, “I’ve been eating like this, and I’m fine,” but unfortunately, that perspective can change when health issues arise, leading individuals to seek out my services. It’s vital to prioritize our nutrition for long-term well-being.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
“Your journey of healing, heals worlds.”. This statement is what helps me stay focus on my goals when I started to research on how to cure my high blood pressure without medication. It was the first step to healing my body and mind. In this process I learned herbalism and became a certified herbalist chef who prepares meals to that tailored to your diagnosis,so you can eat to live .
